Version 6.15
Twitter version 6.15 is now available. With version 6.15, VoiceOver now correctly reads tweet timestamps--a feature that had not worked for quite some time.
Recording Video
OK, it appears that the official Twitter app has now integrated the ability to record video directly from it into itself.
So, has anyone yet tried recording video?
I tried, and I can't seem to figure it out.
How does one accessibly record video using this app?
VO keeps stopping reading and other problems
Hi. I am using the official twitter app and having some problems. I used to just use Safari and login to the twitter website to read my tweets. However, with iOS 8 came a bunch of safari bugs including one where when you get to the end of the first page of tweets and you click the load more tweets button, it will not work. It does not matter if you double tap, double tap and hold, triple tap or stand on your head and wave your feat in the air. It stays on the first page of tweets and will not load more. So safari is only good for reading a few tweets and if you don't check them often enough and you get more then one page of tweets built up, you're out of luck. You can't see them. With iOS 7 and before the load more tweets button worked just fine and you could read pages and pages of tweets until the cows came home. I posted on here about my problem and did not get a solution, so I ditched safari and downloaded the official twitter app. I am having 3 problems with it. The first is that when I first opened it it did what most apps do and asked for permission to send me notifications. I said yes. I have been using the app for about a week and have not gotten a single notification when someone tweets. So how do I set it up to get push notifications for tweets? The second thing is that I can't click links in tweets. I tried double tapping a link and instead of opening the link it gave me a share tweet page and it was not even a page to share the tweet that contained the link I tried to click. It was just a share page for a different random tweet. And it was something I really wanted to read to. The third and most annoying problem is that I will do a 2 finger swipe down to start continuous speech to read my timeline and it will read a few tweets, then just make the popping sound it makes when there is nothing else on the screen and stop reading even though it has not reached the end of the timeline. I have looked and have not found a load more tweets button. What I have to do to keep reading my timeline is do a few 1 finger swipes left, then do another 2 finger swipe down. Then it re-reads a few of the tweets that I had already read, then reads a few new ones, then pops and stops again. Then I have to repeat that insert a bunch of bad and inappropriate words here process again and again and again. In this way I eventually get all my tweets read, but it's very frustrating and requires a lot of messing around and re-reading stuff I already read. So my question, is there a better way to read the timeline in the official twitter app or should I hit the delete key on it and get something else? If I have to get something else, I want the timeline to look the same way it does on Safari. Newest tweets first and then going down to the older ones. And I am not at all interested in twitter's while you were away feature. I want to read all my tweets, not just the ones twitter thinks will interest me. Thank you.
Version 6.24.4
What's New in Version 6.24.4
Includes Twitter for Apple Watch.
Tweet, Retweet, reply and favorite in a flash. Quickly see recent Tweets and top trends. Share your location, a song, or your thoughts with a flick on the wrist. It's Twitter, but littler.
Twitter question
I just downloaded Twitter yesterday. When I opened the App, a sign in field appeared. There was a text field labeled with Full name and another with phone number. Do I have to enter my full name and my phone number? Please help!
No just sign in with your
No just sign in with your user name you created. at twitter.com
Take care.
NOTICE: Version 6.35.1
In this release there is a minor VoiceOver problem with in the Me tab of the app. If you go to the Me tab and check out your profile. Now double tap on the Followers or Following you will see that you are no longer able to review the profile of those users. However, you are now able to Follow or Unfollow the user which we couldn't do before. There is an element that we can't see that allow us to review the profile of the user but VoiceOver is skipping over this element.
What's New in Version 6.35.1
Send a private message without limits: now you're no longer limited to 140 characters when writing a Direct Message.
This doesn't only happen in under the me tab
The inability to access a person's profile with voiceover doesn't just happen under the me tab, it also happens when you get a list of people following you in notifications, and when viewing who favorite your tweet. What are we supposed to do? I'm very carefull about who I follow.
twitter app and lists
Either I've completely forgotten how to do it, or this capability has changed since the last update, but I am no longer able to get to my lists from the home tab like I could before.
twitter lists
To get to your lists, under the me tab, double tap on settings. When the alert pops up, right flick to lists and double tap there, and you should be able to find it.
I'm having a weird issue where...
I'm having a weird issue where if I open the twitter app to follow some people back or check notifications, then close it after doing so, I get the badge that says I have 2 new items or something when I'm on the home screen. but I don't see any new things in my feed. so I have to sign oht and back in. kind of annoying, actually. Am I the only one with this issue, and if not, how can i fix it on a perminant basis?
Thanks,
Joseph
While you were away.
While I was away it seems that Twitter came along andmade some changes that are causing me some grief...
Mormally, I peruse my Twitter timeline the slow and boring way with a single finger swipe from left to right.
What is happening lately is that, on occasion, my single finger swipe jumps me miles down my Timeline to the previous "While you were away" list.
I can't tell if this is a neat design feature, jumping me to my oldest unread Tweat, being activated by my fat fingers or if it is a fault.
What is the experience of other Apple Vis Users? Appreciate your experiences...

Viewing User Profiles Issue
I notice that, when I click on a tweet that has been Retweeted in order to look at the Retweeted user's profile, I only get a "follow this user" option and there's no link to actually view the user's profile first. This appears to be the same issue that others have reported above.
Let's go ahead and contact Twitter about all these issues. They need to hear from us.
In response to the last comment
I have noticed this problem also. However, if you are already following the person whose tweet you have double tapped on, there is an element that says "double tap to view this user's profile, double tap and hold to block." Has anyone contacted the wtitter developer to inform him of this issue? What I do when someone follows me, and I can't see their profile on the twitter app, I go to www.accessibletwitter.com, sign in with twitter, press enter on the my profile link, press enter on the link that gives you the number of followers I have, and find the most recent ones, so I can view their profiles. It's a bit tedius, but I do what I have to until they get this accessibility issue fixed.
That's well and good if they
That's well and good if they already follow you, but if they don't and you don't yet follow them, there's a problem.
Latest update ruined ability to mention?
Has anyone tried tweeting @ anyone? Usually press @ then start typing name, then navigate to list of options? This list of options is no longer being read by voiceover... Only way is to hope you have written enough for twitter to know who you want and double tap on the first unspoken option. You'll be able to read what has come up in your tweet text but this would be a pain if the option you wanted was third and you had to delete the wrong one each time... Anyone else had this problem?
Biggest bug yet
Since today's update the tweet button is always dimmed, effectively ruining the app altogether.
What?
What? I just checked to see ifthis was the case for me this morning, because I knew I'd been using the Twitter app since yesterday with no issues. Still, this morning, no issues here on my end. Everything (well, nearly) works fine. Certainly there's no problem with me tweeting or mentioning anyone. Also, checked to see if I had the latest update and it looks like all my apps are up to date, unless they're staggering the updates and I just haven't received mine yet? If that's the case, I'm rather afraid...
BTW, I have an iPhone 5 withthe latest iOS installed, if that helps anyone.
I've noticed another bug
I've noticed another bug. when loking at the list of suggested users to dm, VO doesn't read any of them, and it used to do this just fine. Odd? I think yes.
Interesting
I'm glad it's working for you and hope that continues. I have a 5C and latest iOS. I searched @a11yteam and a couple of people are complaining about it. Other buttons are fine including retweet. Their accessibility team is generally highly responsive so I'm treating this as a short Twitter sabbatical :)
Following vs. Viewing Profile Issue
Well, still not experiencing issues with the tweet/reply buttons.
Also, if I am, in fact, using the latest update, it seems that the "follow vs. being able to view profiles" issue still hasn't been addressed. Anyone who is experiencing the buttons issue noticing this?
Now Having the Same Issues, But...
OK, guys, I am now indeed finding that I am having the same issues with the Twitter tweet/reply buttons. However, I think I've found a bit of a workaround.
When I had the problem sending a tweet, I decided to save it to drafts in the hope I'd be able to send it later. When I went to see if it was saved to Drafts, I had an idea. I thought I'd bring up that tweet again and see if I could send it from there. I did bring that tweet back up and, lo and behold!, I was in fact able to send it!
So, yeah, if you experience issues with the tweet button dimming, just save it to drafts, go to Drafts, bring up that tweet and then try sending it again.
Hmm, I'm wondering if this is more than just a VoiceOver issue. May be one for everyone, the way the behavior seems to be right now. Not sure.
drats workaround
Shame, but yes the drafts idea is a good workaround, thanks. I have also found that turning Voiceover off, tappint the top right of the screen and turning it back on again works, but not ideal. I'll try drafting.
So, sounds like it is a VoiceOver issue.
Hmm, OK, so, sounds like it is a VoiceOver/accessibility-specific issue.
For those who have not yet contacted their accessibility about it, I would recommend that you do just so they make sure they keep this a priority.
And, yeah, so far, the "draft" thing has worked for me every time.
Twitter's outdone itself now
I'm sorry to be grumpy but I've updated the app again and now the Tweet button (which still is dimmed), has now been moved from the top right corner, to just above the keyboard which, I presume, is in order to make it similar to other social media apps where send/post buttons are located here. This makes it harder to correctly guess and locate the button with Voiceover turned off. I tried drafting a tweet and from there found the button dimmed too. Let's hope iOS 9 resolves this (though I don't intend to upgrade just yet) or the Twitter Accessibility team, in whom I've had faith up to now, provides a response.
twitter accessibility improvements
The only time I've seen the tweet button dimmed while trying to send the tweet is when I try to quote a tweet. When replying to a tweet, or mentioning someone in conversation, the tweet button works. Also, the ability for voiceover users to double tap on a user's profile to view it, is now accessible. I wouldn't complain too much, because this update is much better than the last one.
Not as bad as first appeared
Thanks Ann. I've used it a bit more since posting about the tweet button. The profile issue wasn't bothering me all that much but I'm glad it's back as it does save having to search for some-one. However the best news is that I decided I'd try holding down on the dimmed tweet button, which for me is always dimmed where the button is labelled "tweet" rather than anything else. I've done it a couple of times, and it seems to work if held for a couple of seconds. I wish Twitter had replied to those of us who tweeted about this dimmed button to let us know, but we got there anyway in the end! :)
In response
Yeah, my twitter experience is better now. If you want to tweet me or follow me to read tweets about writing, my upcoming novel, or just some really good quotes, go to www.twitter.com/annwrites75
Can not use the tweet button
Hi all, i think i've found the way how to make a tweet or reply a tweet from someone. When you have written your tweet and want to send it, you can double tab and hold on the tweet button or reply button. After you release that button, i believe your tweet will be posted. I've tried it. Thanks.
Oh, no!
I accidentally misspelled my @ name when setting up a new Twitter account. I thought the prompt said this name could be changed later...but now I'm looking at the Edit Profile page, and can't find any way to edit it. Any ideas? If there's a way to do this on the actual website, that's fine, too...
editing your profile on twitter
Editing your profile is difficult at best on the twitter app itself. What I did to edit mine is go to www.accessibletwitter.com, sign in with my twitter username and password, go to the my profile link, then under the edit profile link, I was able to fully edit my profile, change my name, add a new website, etc. When we had some accessibility issues with viewing profiles on the app, I used accessible twitter.com to see who followed me and view their profiles. If I liked them, I followed them from there. Hope this helps.
Thanks
I was able to check this out, and still have no option of editing the user name. (So, I could change my "name" from "George" to "Jim Bob", but I can't change my username from "@GeorgeJimBob" to "@JimBobGeorge", or whatever). I'm going to assume that what VO actually said when prompting me to create a username was, "This CAN'T be edited later." So I'm thinking I'm just going to need to start from the ground up. Which also means I can't use the email I associated with that account, apparently. Sigh.
And...got it
I hate when I post here, and then literally two minutes later I figure it out. Wasn't able to find what I needed at accessibletwitter.com but was, surprisingly, able to on Twitter.com after a bit of Googling. Turns out there's a button towards the top of the screen that opens up a menu which contains "Account Settings." From there, there is an edit field to change the username. Hooray!
Tweet Feeds/Lists Sometimes Scrolling Back to Top
OK, so here's my deal...
Sometimes when I'm scrolling either through my feed or through a feed that has been generated through a search I did and if I click on one of the tweets in that feed, then if I go back to the feed list by hitting the "back" button on the tweet I'm looking at, the feed will scroll back to the very top of the list instead of remaining in the postiion I left it. I therefore have to scroll all the way back down (sometimes a good distance down) to the tweet where I left off.
Not sure if this is a Twitter accessibility issue or if this has something to do with iOS 9 generally.
Anyone else have this issue? If so, any workarounds? Also, do you think it's iOS 9 or the Twitter app specifically? Indeed, is it even an accessibility issue at all? Wondering if even sighted users are having this issue?
Actually that's where you're
Actually that's where you're wrong.
Hope that helps
Focus issues
Hello,
This is not specific to the Twitter app. This seems to be happening in any app with long lists. So far I have seen it in Twitter, Twitterific, Tweetings, Diabetes Pilot and a few others. I am pretty sure this is an accessibility bug.
Regards,
Greg Wocher
"Retweet", "Favorite" options sometimes not working
Has anyone else noticed that, in the latest update to the Twitter app, sometimes (but not always), neither the Favorite nor the Retweet options want to do anything when you double-tap them? Or, is it just me? If others have experienced this, does anyone know if this is an accessibility issue or if everyone is having the problem? If it is an accessibility issue, I'd recommend we report it.
What has happened to my Timeline?
I use Twitter on my iPhone and am in the habit of keeping my IOS and my Apps updated.
Recently, I have noticed a considerable divergence between the Timeline on my IOS Twitter App and what I find using YoruFukurou on the Mac.
The problems with the Native IOS Twitter App start after the "While You Were Away" list on my Timeline. After this, there are no Tweets for the previous 3 to 4 hours and what does appear next in the Timeline seems sparse by comparison.
Does anyone here know why my IOS Twitter App is missing so many Tweets?
Thanks for your help.
@SeaNoEvil00
I guess just refresh the page
I guess just refresh the page and don't worry about the while you are away section. I don't..
Refresh
Hi
Thanks for the help. If I refresh, the new Tweets that come in above the "While You were away" refresh, but anything before than doesn't refresh and is but a shadow of what can be found on my YoruFukurou Timeline.
@SeaNoEvil00
I would not worry about it. I
I would not worry about it. I just ignore the while you are away and pay attention to the home tab. Remember, twitter cannot stream the tweets, they never could. But yeah again just ignore that as you don't need to read 500 to a thousand tweets while you were gone.
So, having heard radio
So, having heard radio silence on the issue with not being able to Retweet/Like some tweets, am I to assume that ABSOLUTELY NO-ONE ELSE is having this issue???
Sponsored Tweets
Hi Misty,
I once noticed that the two finger Magic tap didn't give me the expected options to favourite, retweet etc, but as it was a sponsored Tweet in my timeline I, rightly or perhaps wrongly, attributed it to that.
Other than that, it has not been a problem for me.
@SeaNoEvil00
Same here. I can retweet with
Same here. I can retweet with out a problem on the twitter app end of Things. I notice my focus jumps after doing so though.
Take care.
I notice the twitter app now
I notice the twitter app now has actionable items. How c ool is this? We'll se though, as the last time I did a pole I could not select the choice. Orchoose the time I wanted the pole to last. We'll see what happens.
Only delete
For now there is only a delete action but it seems to be everywhere, even in controls where there is nothing to be deleted. Hope we'll see Twitter implementing actionable features as Tweetings has already done
Compose button disappears
Compose tweet button disappears on new update. When u first update twitter its there and fine but when u open the app later the compose button is nowhere to be seen unless i delete and reinstall the app. and it does the same thing after that. Doesn't fix it at all. Anybody else not finding the compose tweet button after the latest update?
Compose button
Hello,
It seems the compose button has moved. I am finding it just above the messages tab on the bottom of the screen. Put your finger on the messages tab and slide it up just a bit and the compose button should be there.
Greg WOcher
Got it
Got it. and found it. thank u.
