Description of App

iTunes Descriptions:
Voice Band introduces a revolutionary new way to make music - with your voice!

Just sing into your phone and hear Voice Band transform your voice into an instrument in real time. Voice Band doesn't simply alter your voice to sound
like an instrument, it actually plays a real sampled instrument which follows what you sing. Want to jam to a guitar solo with your favorite band? Voice
Band lets you play along with your ipod library, too.

Whether you’re a musician looking to instantly capture an arrangement idea, or a music fan looking to make your own music for the first time, Voice Band
will inspire and challenge you.

NOTE: Like any musical instrument, Voice Band works better with practice. If you consider yourself non-musical you can still have lots of fun with Voice
Band as you continue to expand your musical talent! For help in getting the most from Voice Band, check out our tutorial videos.

Imagine creating an entire song with only your voice!

Voice Band features a recorder which lets you build a song, one instrument at a time. Auto pitch mode helps you stay on key, and if you're a musician,
you'll appreciate the adjustable scale and metronome. Voice Band also includes a
built-in effects processor with distortion, reverb, and delay.

Features:

  • Turns your voice into an instrument, in real time.
  • Instruments include: 2 guitars, bass, sax, 2 synths, Drums, and a Mic mode
  • Built-in recorder allows you to record an entire song, one instrument at a time.
  • iPod player lets you play along with your favorite music.
  • Drum mode lets you play both kick and snare at the same time by singing at two different volumes.
  • Auto Pitch mode helps you to stay on key.
  • Adjustable octave
  • Effects include distortion, reverb and delay.
  • Adjustable musical scale for auto pitch includes Major, Minor, Blues, Pentatonic, Wholetone and Mixolydian.
  • Built-in metronome with adjustable tempo.
  • Songs can be saved, and e-mailed from within Voice Band.
  • Compatible with headphone and microphone accessories, including the iRig Mic for high quality recording.

Requirements

  • An iPhone 4 or 3GS is strongly recommended to reduce the processing delay that can interfere with accurate instrument control.
  • Quality headphones are recommended.
  • A quiet place to record, to avoid false instrument triggering from external noise.
  • Practice is required! As with any musical instrument, your results will improve dramatically as your skill develops.

NOTE: A pair of headphones (with a built-in mic) is required for iPod Touch and original iPhone users.

I couldn't get this app to work with VoiceOver. Nothing is properly labeled.
I had the same issue. I actually had to turn VoiceOver off to get the app to even change instruments. I'm wondering if the person who wrote the entry in the app directory did something special to the app or VoiceOver? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't get VoiceOver to read most of the app, other then the very bottom of the screen. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem?
I purchased the app today, based on the info on AppleVis. I am also having great difficulty with the app and can access only the bottom row of buttons. I can't even find most of the settings documented in the blurb on the App Store. In some discussion from last spring, folks indicated that they had figured it out. I'd appreciate any help or tips.
Hi, I would like to get some help with Voice Band as well. I like the app, but I can't change the instruments or anything. Thanks a ot.

Hi all,

I haven't used this app myself, but the comments posted above show that many people are not finding it as accessible as Daven suggested. I have therefore amended its Usability Rating to reflect these comments.

The app seem very cool and I would have get it if I didn't read the review above. I would be very cool if it works properly.
I emailed the developer last week to request that they review compatibility with Voice Over. I received an acknowledgement on Monday, but there has been no follow up as yet. Anyone know anything about this company? It's a good app but nearly useless for those with blindness as far as I can tell.

I would love to now if this app has been used by anyone who is blind successfully, please provide a way of using it, and also, I would encourage people to contact the developer to make this app accessible with voiceover

I heard more from the developer on Monday. Here is the note. No commitment, but at least they are investigating. *** We apologize for taking the time to get back to you. It has been a very busy week in the office and appreciate your understanding. We have been aware of the issue with Voice Over for a short time, and we are looking at what it will take to rewrite over some of the code for Voice Band. Once our development team has had an opportunity to evaluate this we will update you.

Hello all, We are pleased to announce that an update for Voice Band 1.4 has been submitted to the iTunes App Store for review. This update contains all of the Accessibility fixes for Voice Over to work within Voice Band. In our experience, updates for apps typically take about a week to be reviewed and posted in the App Store. Cheers, Jack

I can't seem to figure out how I changed from guitar to drums. Are the drums the only instruments that actually come without buying other instruments?
I know I had a guitar on here some place!
Thanks to anyone who replies.

I listened to the podcast made about this app and figured out how to record an pan audio. But how do you change the pitch of the audio? There are octave plus and minus buttons but pressing them accomplishes nothing.

By Igna Triay on Monday, November 21, 2016 - 19:51

how do you pick a song? I press the library button, but it just takes me to a blank screen where vo doesn't read anything.

While I can play the guitar, this is cool. I have recorded a song called Candy Cane.

Okay, love the app, but cannot seem to change instruments. Is there a workaround?
