Radiant: The Future Of Radio

Category

Description of App

First, there was FM, then came digital and now, meet Radiant!

Radiant is the hottest digital radio service with your digital host, Rad! Rad knows what music you like (Thanks to his deep integration with Apple Music) and plays the soundtrack to your day!

Monday at 8 am on your way to work? Rad's got a song for that! Need help to fall asleep? Let Rad soothe your weary soul. Trying to get over the midday, post-lunch slump. Rad's got you covered!

But wait there's more! Rad's not just a DJ, he's a news anchor, weatherman, traffic reporter and music expert. Throughout the day you'll learn about the backstories of artists, whether today is a shorts and t-shirt or umbrella kinda day, how much traffic you can expect on your commute and hear the local news stories as they happen so you never miss a beat.

Oh and did we mention Rad is interactive? You can tell him if you're really loving what is playing and he'll dig out a few similar ones from the pile to play next, if something not really your speed or you just inexplicably hate an artist you can let him know about that too and he'll change his selections on the fly.

How's all that sound? Sound good? Alrighty then! Let's get started!

All you'll need is an Apple Music subscription and you're ready to tune in to the future of radio!

Other Comments

This is a great app. I find its recommendations are better than the ones Apple Music provides since it uses at least two services to recommend music to play.

I downloaded the app and, from the first 5 minutes of use, I think that's an interesting app, but:
- Even though I set the Rod would speak every song, it doesn't;
- It doesn't read song artist and title, like a DJ in a radio would do. It's just a 10 second spoken introduction and then endless music, just like a playlist.
- Magic tap doesn't work.

That's actually not my experience. Not only will he say song artist and title, he will make comments on the songs and even quips about the time of day etc. I have it set at two per set. You may need to restart the app after setting changes, or maybe that's a bug. I never set it to one song though, that's not really a set so maybe that just won't work.
Agreed Magic Tap does not work. I'll edit the entry.

After trying the app for a few hours I can say that the announcements work and they are very good. Unfortunately though the app incorrectly plays music: the speaker announced "Nancy Mulligan" by Ed Sheeran and it played "Happier"; it announced a song by Céline Dion and played Robin Schulz.
Also the news updates work, but I'd like to costumize the newspaper it uses: for me are USA Today, The New York Times and CNN.
Finally I'd like the voice to switch language: if I listen to an Italian song, or would like to have news from Italian papers, I'd like to read in Italian, not with an American English accent.

This is great, but there are some issues, it doesn't seem to play the songs in the que, and sometimes it says it's going to play a song, and it plays a different song. Overall this app is great though

I tried downloading this app today, I got to the part that asked me to add 3 artists but it doesn't let me. I see a search box where I can type something in but when I press done it does nothing. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

It might be a bug, I'm not sure. The app has gone through a major overhaul so there might be bugs. I'll ask around.
