This looks is extremely interesting. It sounds like something similar to Aira. Only it’s free. This would be a definite tool for my toolbox. It seems like the company is just getting started. I wonder how long they’ve been around?

They've been around since 2021, but for some reason I don't think it ever gained much traction. I couldn't find it when I searched for it on the App Store. The only way I could find it was by visiting their website.

Their primary focus is navigation, but they will help with other tasks as well.
When it comes to differences between this service and Be My Eyes, the volunteers are all trained and background checked.

i'm not sure what but I'd reall like to have a heading that says something like, what country is this app in, and you'd fill it out.

I kno it's in the US, the app description gives that away, but I still think this would be very useful.

Also, I hope these people are paid.

I wonder how many people are using the app vs BeMyEyes?

I just checked out the website and it's availible all over the world, I might actually check it out.

While Be My Eyes is exceptional, I think this is another good tool for my toolbox. My only question is, I’m wondering if they can help me take photos? Let’s say I’m at a party with friends or something and I want to get a picture of myself and my wife and another friend, I wonder if they would help with that?

So, upon further experimentation with the app, when I go to live chat with an agent, it says sorry no guides are available, if I go to voice chat with an agent, it says sorry no guides are available and the same thing happens with the video call. Any reason as to why this is happening?

From what I understand the app is only available in certain cities currently. Michigan and Austin tx is what I was told. They need to list stuff like this on the app so that we don't waist our time.

By techluver on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 - 13:15

I'm in Austin, TX. it still says no guide available so i don't think it's because of location.

By Rich on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 - 13:15

To those saying that they couldn't get anyone, they do not have volunteers available 24 hours a day.
They start at 9:00 in the morning US Eastern time, and they finish around 9:00 or 10:00 at night.
As for availability, I'm guessing they're available in all states and territories since they list them during registration.
I'm in Florida and I was able to register and make a test call with no problems.

By Brad on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 - 13:15

I believe in the description it even says they're availible 24 7.

I don't use it much if at all but I'll be sticking to BeMyEyes, at least they actually have volunteers around the world 24 7.

By Troy on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 - 13:15

I'm sorry but the app developer needs to include this info into the app description. Another concern I have is it was last updated in 2022. The registration and sign in process could use some work. I know the app developer of this app use to be on this site in 2021 when the app first came out, wonder if he is still here?

Just wanted to praise the man responsible for making this app available to the disabled community. It was not bad to setup as a blind person and the interface is simple. VoiceOver works well on it and the volunteers are available for normal hours of traveling. Good job!!!
