Accessibility Comments

All tabs, buttons, and recipes are properly read. The dinner spinner's contents have also been labeled, though I haven't figured out how to actually tell what you've marked, though you can mark or unmark things with a double tap. The best way to use the app seems to be to search for recipes manually. All of the ingredients and instructions are read and as Allrecipes offers a large database, you'll never be left without a new dish to try. I'm pleased with the great number of changes that have been implemented into this app to make it much more accessible. I haven't created an account on Allrecipes, so can't comment on those features which require an account.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

The Dinner Spinner is a wheel on which different categories have been written, such as grains, desserts, fish, chicken, pork, etc. You make different selections such as appetizers in an hour or less, give the wheel a spin (or your phone a shake) and recipes will be presented based on your selections. The recipes can be read perfectly, however, the wheel is a bit difficult to use. VoiceOver reads the categories but it doesn't let you know if a certain category has been selected. My phone's Shake feature doesn't seem to work either, though I'm not sure if that's something wonky with the phone or the app.

The other way to use the app is to search for recipes using the app's search feature. This is probably how most of us will use it.

I know this app was added almost a year ago, so things could definitely have been different at that time. However, I just purchased the paid version of this app and it's fabulous! There's so much more to it than the spinner part. You can log in with your existing AllRecipes.com account, search for recipes, pick categories, ingredients, and other things. The spinner, even if it's considered to be the main part of the app, is such a small area. There's so much more value, and I'd highly recommend it to anybody. It's also possible that the pro version has a bit more accessibility too, but I purchased the app on another Voiceover user's recommendation and I'm definitely not disappointed in the least. Voiceover reads the recipes perfectly, and after doing a search, all information is displayed in a very easy to follow list. If you love recipes, and find that the new layout of the AllRecipes web site is a major disappointment as I do, I really do strongly recommend this app as a replacement. It does what I want it to do, and then some.

Hi,
any idea why when I open this app all the recipes are dimed? If I look at the daily presented ones or even search for some the results all appear dimed. I have even signed with my account info. ANy one have any idea?
Thanks,
Mike

It is strange that the recipe titles are dimmed, but if you double tap where it says "ratings", you can get to the recipe and it reads fine from there.
