Instant Heart Rate+ HR Monitor

Description of App

The best Health & Fitness app on Mobile Premier Awards 2011 according to jury of industry experts.

See every heart beat on the monitor, just like in ER rooms. Measure your heart rate instantly!

Instant Heart Rate uses your iPhone's camera to detect the pulse in your fingertip. The same technique used by medical pulse oximeters is now available on your iPhone!

Place the tip of your index finger on the iPhone’s camera, and in a couple of seconds your heart rate will be shown. Instant Heart Rate will beep with your pulse. A real-time chart will show you every heart beat.

Join over 15 million users who are already using it.

Features:

  • Heart rate measurement
  • Real-time PPG (EKG-like graph)
  • Sharing to Twitter, Facebook and other social networks
  • Timeline

NOTE: Works best on iPhone 4/4S because it has a camera flash. On iPhone 3GS and iPod touch it has to be used in good lighting.

NOTE: Make sure that your fingertip completely covers the camera lens. Press gently, since pressing too hard reduces blood flow in your finger and it's harder to get a result. Make sure that your fingers are not cold.

Other Comments

There are some things to note about the Instant Hearte Rate. The app work just fine if you are only wanting to get your pulse rate. Amazing enough the accuracy of the result from this app is very accurate. I don't recommend this for people on the 3gs at all because it lacks of the flash capability like the iPhone 4 and 4s. There is a row of five tabs along the bottom of the screen. The first tab you will find is the Help tab. Unfortunately, this is not accessible at all. Next to this tab is the second tab which is the HR Zone tab. This is accessible and contains information in what range you want to be in for certain work out. It also gives you formulas to help you in figuring out what ranges are best for you. The third tab and the center tab is unlabeled. The unlabeled button is really the measurement button. Now place your finger in the camera lenses before selecting this tab. Once you have double tap this button. It will take a few seconds before you will hear a heart rate beeping. At this point it is taking your pulse. Several seconds after this it will stop and say your measurement complete. The next tab over is the Timeline tab is the tab where you can find out your results. This is readable. I have not taken the time to see if it would store my pulse for later retrieval but at this point all I was concerned was my pulse rate. The final tab is the Settings tab. This tab is also accessible and you will find a variety of settings you may want to review and change.
