Accessibility Comments

This app is quite accessible. The only thing to worry about is the Continue button after answering a question, that sometimes is a bit hard to find. The power-up buttons are not labeled with their names, but with the amount of coins they use. hey are, flicking from left to right: Extra time, bomb, double chance, and skip.

: Now there is a new game mode in which you challenge other players to a series of questions. The faster and accurate the better. It is not possible to choose the player you want to deal with, it is not accessible. You can still pick random players or accept games from friends and random people.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Other Comments

Some questions are visual questions, obviously impossible for us to answer. Fortunately the majority of the questions are text based ones.

I don't know if games with people from different countries are allowed, so I post here my username, it is not the same as game center. Please check the spelling. User: rahoul

Hi, I noticed some more issues with Voiceover when playing the game. There are quite a few unlabeled buttons at the main page of the app. When you start a new game, you can change the language, but these buttons are unlabeled too. The same when you choose a character to play for, though you can see which one you chose after the "choose character" heading or what it's called, I can't remember right now. And I have a question. Has anyone found out how to find out the scores during a game? I mean if there is a way to see how many characters I have or how many my opponent has. Thanks.
Lets se... The unlabeled buttons from the main page are not a major issue, since you can click the text that goes before or after, but here are some of them. The very first one, called header is where the profile and settings are. The next one prompts your friend list, quite useless since you can choose a friend from the start game screen. Then, the messages button where you can send some lives or spins to your facebook friends. Then there is a number that can be 3, 2, 1, or 0. That is the amount of lives you have, and after that there is a timer counting how much time remains for a life to be added, if you don't want to buy. You can buy pressing the plus button after the lives number. Then there come the coins number, used for the power-ups. These are not automatically recharged, you earn them by wining games or buying from in-app purchases. Of course I don't recommend buying anything. After the start button there are some people suggestions, your game list if any, other games by this company and some adds. Regarding the characters, you can know what are you choosing before playing, just select a character, then flick left to where the "choose a character" text is. There should be the category name. If you don't like just choose other character, and when you're ready press play. As for knowing how many crowns you have, you can, just double tap the stats button. The problem is you can't know what characters do you or your opponent have, only the number. Hope this helps.
Hi, ok, thanks for the help. That helps out quite a bit. And for some reason I completely missed the stats button before, so thanks for that. It's ok for me to at least know how many characters my opponent has, since in the only game I played yet I didn't know if I was winning or loosing until the game ended. So that should make it better now. Thanks again.

I've been playing the game for a bit and keep hearing about power ups. I don't see how to use or urchase these. How do I go about this?

By Raul on Thursday, January 23, 2014 - 12:40

In reply to by Jesse

To use a power-up you must be in the question screen with the four answer options. If you flick pass the answers you find four buttons with a number: 1, 5, 5, 3 I think they are. That are the power ups, and the number means the number of coins it cost. To use it just press one of the four buttons, the power-up button name is up in the accessibility comments.

What's new in version 1.3: - You can see game partial results! - Discover the new achievements to unlock! - More visual questions - New questions suggested by users - Bug fixes - Performance improvements

The achievements screen is perfectly accessible, and we can see how many goals have we got. Now the number of extra spins is next to the coins number. The menu button previously labeled as header menu is no longer labeled.

By Faerie on Sunday, November 23, 2014 - 12:40

i don't know whether this is by accident or design but the game has been made completely accessible. It is now easy to use and I absolutely love the game. I am musicfairy if anyone wants more people to play with.

By Maya on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 - 12:40

Hi to all. Please is there anyone who could do a podcast to show ho to play the game? It seems to be a very interesting game, but I don't know how to play it properly. Thanks for help in advance.

By Usman on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 - 12:40

Hi,
It is a typical trivia style game. There are six categories, in which you have to answer questions from those categories. they are in multiple choice with four options. you have to select the best one and hopefully its the correct one.

By Gus Pacleb on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 - 12:40

Hi
Has anyone been able to tell what the right answer is to a question that you answered wrong? I cannot seem to find a way to get voiceover to tell me this information. Any help apreciated.
Thanks

By John Lipsey on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 - 12:40

In reply to by Gus Pacleb

You can see the right answer, if you flick through the choices quickly enough after you choose the wrong answer. The choice you made, as well as the correct answer, will both say selected. Answers don't stay on screen very long after you choose one, however. This is true for sighted users as well, and my mum has missed seeing many correct answers herself.

My view of the game in the current version:

For the most part it can be played. There are unlabeled buttons in a variety of places. In some areas using the swiping gestures will not work. One will have to explore and touch to find what you need to do. At times you may have an overlay menu that is there. So you will hear things in the front as well in the background. This can be confusing that it need to be closed before the items in the background will work. It is a fun game and is currently a hot game for those with sight. I am able to play the game with out to much issues but there are definitely are issues that simply can't be done or used. I would love to see the developer behind this game to make this even more VoiceOver accessible.

Agreed. I to am a bit confused by the layout. Im at the current menu and can't even get a game started. I'm tempted to leave a link to this post on their twitter. Dunno if they will respond, how ever at least we can make them aware of what is going on.

By Usman on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Considering how inaccessible this app use to be not 4 months ago, it is making tremendous progress. Just swipe to new game, select your language, swipe over to friends then play now, quite simple.

By John Lipsey on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Actually, you don't have to select a language, as long as you want to play a game in your default language. Simply touch new game, choose whether you want a classic game or a challenge, choose whether you want to play against friends or random opponents, then touch play now. If you chose a random opponent the game starts automatically. If you chose friends, you'll get to choose who you wish to play against.
Hope this helps. I play a lot of trivia crack, so am always happy to help people learn the game.

I can't even get tha tfar. The main screenis not swipable at least not for me. I tap new game, and nothing happens. the screen never changes. I do see an add I can't dismiss at the botom of the page.

By John Lipsey on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Strange. I have the add-free version, but that shouldn't make a difference to the accessibility of the app.

By Usman on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Now that I think about it, my girlfriend had the free version of the game with the adds in it. There are some adds where you cannot dismiss it at all. I don't know if this is more of an incentive to upgrade, or whether the dismiss button is so well hidden that it is next to impossible to find it. Regardless, I'm not impressed by that at all. Although developers should create ways to force people to upgrade, but not like this. she eventually upgraded to the add free version because the game was practically unplayable with the adds.

By david b on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Hi
Whenever you get a question wrong, you can see the correct answer. Can you do this with voiceover? I can't figure it out. Thanks

By Usman on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Yes, but it lasts for about a second before disappearing. This is also the case visually.

By KE7ZUM on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

I emailed them and tweeted them about that, and submitting questions for the community. Right now there's really no way to do it as theere are a lot of unlabeled buttons to deal with. There is I don't think a way to submit it on the site either, unless you know spanish, which I don't. The site does not have an english version. And the FAQ does not cover this.

By david b on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

When you say there are a lot of unlabeled buttons, how many do you mean? I've seen some but they were easy to figure out and labael, and they aren't really iportant anyways.

By tldougl on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

I'm wondering if anyone knows why, when attempting to select a facebook friend to play a new game, often times when double tapping on the name to select it, nothing happens?

By KE7ZUM on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

In reply to by david b

When you submit a question the question areas is unlabeled, where the choices are. The life button is not labeled, the shop buttons are unlabeled, this on the main home screen, The question factory when you go to look at your question, that part is unlabeled. their are a lot of ther places but those are the key areas. I brought this to their attention 2 weeks ago.

By Raul on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

The user list is accessible since the last update, it was not before

By KE7ZUM on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

I hope to get a contact with them going about the submitting questions to their data base and community. as I show in my first podcast on trivia crack it is not accessible. You see text where you type your question then the rest are unlabeled buttons that appear to do nothing

I love the user list is accessible. that's when I joined actually.

By Victoria F on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Seriously this game is so addictive for me. It has gained accessibiliby improvements since the article was posted. The power ups are now labelled.

By Ken Downey on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Here is how I always find the close button for the adverts. First, turn off speech. Then, do a two finger swipe down… It will scroll and scroll. When it stops, double tap and that should do the trick!

By KE7ZUM on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

I just do a 4 finger touch and activate the e close button. or when it is not there I hit the close button at the top. I was so satisfied I baught the app so no adds for me.

By Nina on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Hello,
I know others have asked this before but, how can you see the right answers for the ones you got wrong? Even when I flick to the right as fast as I can I can't see them. VoiceOver keeps reading the question but nno answers.
Thanks for the help

By david b on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Hi
As of this comment, seeing correct answers is not possible. The only solutions I can think of are, if you care enough to, google the question. Or, go to triviacracksolutions.com or triviacrackanswers.com. If anyone knows spanish, you could write to the developers. Also, you could give feedback in the settings or whatever. By the way, for anyone who wants to add me, I'm spock111. Thanks and happy learning.

By KE7ZUM on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

Actually you can see the answers. I did a note about in my show notes but basically all you do is swipe up with 2 fingers and it will read the answer to you, the one you selected and the one that's correct.

By Siobhan on Friday, January 23, 2015 - 12:40

If you want to play a game, Irish_storm. come play. I don't know how to send spins or lives to friends. BTW Marriee, great job on your tffp, obviously, I'm the same who's playing against you right now. ;)

By Lisa on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

Hello,
Has anyone on the AppleVis editorial team did a podcast on Trivia Crack? If not a podcast on this app would be very helpful. I hope you will at least consider it. Thank you.

I thought I posted my podcasts links but this was originally a stream archive. I also in part 2 put some stuff in the foot notes so read those as well.

part 1 part 2

Hope that helps. And have fun playing the game.

By Usman on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

Mary, I believe it would be easier and more convenient if your podcasts can be posted directly to Applevis.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

I can't do that. I already put the tuff on the foot notes as I did not know about the tricks I learned until after I did the live streaming so for now go to the links I provided and leave the comments there. I'll see them the podcasts are up to 4 hours long in total so be prepaired to spend all day listening. I had a blast, and read the end notes which gives some tips and tricks, and contact info for the dev.

Blessings.

By robdz on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

Well I attribute this to something I am doing wrong. To make a long whiney post short, I tap on new game, select friends, play now, and I do a Facebook search. Yes the name I want automagically appears, with the word "image". I double tap on name, and there are 2 buttons. Invite to play, and Invite all. Tried invite to play with no egknowledgement that anything happened. Then although I probably knew it wouldn't work, tapped invite all, and it said I invited about a bazillion FB friends. I hope I didn't because I'll have a lot of 'splaining to do Lucy. How do I initiate a game with a particular friend? Now they give me a list of recommended friends as well, nice folks, but not the one I want to play with. Thanks for anyone's help in advance.

By Usman on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

After double tapping on new game, swipe over to play now and make sure friends is selected, not random. there you will be presented with either the friends you've added, or Facebook friends who have trivia crack. If you desire to play with a Facebook friend, select Facebook, swipe over to the friend you want to start a game with, and just double tap.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

I have a question. For a challenge if I do the face book thing, it only shows about 8 or so people, same for lives and spins. I know I have more then 8 friends playling. How can I not have it sow suggested friends, but all of my fb friends playing etc.

By Usman on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

I noticed this as well. Not sure if this is a voiceover limitation or trivia crack. I will have to ask someone sighted to see if all Facebook friends show up for lives, spins or challenges.

By falcon wings on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

Can you only add facebook friends?
I don't think any of mine play, and I can't seem to find where to search for and add a username to friends.
Mine is grryfindore, If I have set it right...

By KE7ZUM on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

go to new game, go to friends, then go to all. Then search in the search field. You can then click add when they play with you and add them to your list by clicking their profile.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

I contacted them a lot regarding this, but the submit questions thing is totally inaccessible. First you pick a category which is fine, then you pick the region which is fine. From there, it gets ugly.
You have a text edit field then a lot of unlabeled buttons none of which appear to do anything when tapped, and no hints. I suggested they add hints if possible or label the buttons, or let us submit them via the website but so far no response and it's been at least I think a bout a month since I contacted them last about this? I can't recall.

By Usman on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

I heard from someone that one needs to communicate in spanish when contacting them directly as the main developer is from Argentina.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, February 23, 2015 - 12:40

Well that's not going to help. Actually their tweets are in english so am a bit confused here. I don't know any Spanish so that is really going to hinder me.
