Accessibility Comments

Warner Brothers claims that accessibility improvements are still being made. Most of the app is accessible, but there are still several spots which must be labeled or organized for efficient use with VoiceOver.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Has anyone figured out how to edit your team? I've managed to do it by dragging and dropping where I think the cards are, but it's very hit and miss.

By tunmi13 on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

For now, that seems to be the only way. I'm going to contact Warner Brothers about this, and other ways accessibility could improve. The sooner blind individuals get in touch with them regarding accessibility, the more likely we'll possibly get out of them in the versions to come, at least from my perspective.

I have tried out the game, it seems excessive enough to play, though it seems like it could use some improvement in certain areas. I look forward to playing it more, since I have never gone into Mortal Kombat before, I figure I will watch one of the movies to get a feel for what Mortal Kombat is all about. I remember when my brother used to play it back when he was a kid.

By Firefly on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

The only thing I am unsure of is, I know how to drag a character I double tap and hold my finger down, but then how and where do I drop it where it is supposed to be for like the quests and stuff?

Mortal Kombat mobile is awesome, I have two wins and 90 coins. Talking about Mortal Kombat. I’m going to play it again.
And meng , I don’t even know how you can limk a controller or game system that is supported on iOS or iPadOS up onyour device
I have never had experiences with using controllers on iPhone or iPad before.
Cheers
Dominic.

Just tap around the screen until I get to my next fight, and then I start throwing punches of the enemy, until I win, which, hypothetically speaking at this point is 78.24% chance right now?
But I’m on the rise.
What should Michael model, Facebook group on iMessage WhatsApp Mortal Kombat group? LOL. But in all seriousness, Mortal Kombat is a very good name, voice acting is hilariously good

By ming on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

well,
I hope someone will do n accessibility review.
see how we can play it without turn on voice over.
I will try it when I am at home.

Direct Touch is not necessarily required. When you click Fight with VoiceOver, similar to IOS' GarageBand app, it goes into a Direct Interaction area.
While fighting, it is recommended to leave VoiceOver on, as sometimes the game allows you to add to your attack. For example, sometimes will instruct you to swipe, rapid swipes, rapid taps, tap in the middle, etc etc.

I will attempt to do a tutorial soon. It may not be available on AppleVis due to its current accessibility, as I don't really submit podcasts that discuss apps with chances of accessibility not improving. This isn't saying I don't believe in Warner Brothers, but it'd be sad to do a podcast and all of a sudden, boom. We're back to square one.

I’ve played both times without VoiceOver. In my to wins, miraculously, I want both. I don’t know how, I just kept on, smashing the screen with my hands until I came up the winner. LOL! But for real, how do you pair a controller with iOS

By ming on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

I like it so far.
even the interface and the accessibility still have space to improve.
but, I do win some fight

By ming on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

well,
I would like to make a screen recording by doing the tutorial again.
to let someone know how to play this game
and let my sighted friend know that we also can play mainstream game.
so, can I do the tutorial again?

I guess my question is, when you go to the side, quests tab, where you can send your fighters on quests, it wants you to choose fighters to go on that quest. It tells you to drag and drop the player cards to the appropriate spots so they can be entered in. How do you do this with voiceover?

By Sabrina on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

Hello. I am really interested in this game but can't get the hang of the actual battles.I am getting along with the menus but not the actual battles. How do I do that? On speakers or headphones?

By tunmi13 on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

The slots are organized from left to right at the top of the screen. Below your team is the cards you have collected. To replace a card on your team, first locate the card with your finger to ensure it's there. Then move your finger down until you find the card you want to put in place of the old one. Double tap and hold to start dragging the card, then drag it to the area you think you touched. If it was successful, you will hear a card sound.
@Sabrina, When you mean navigating menus and using headphones, what exactly are you saying?

By Sabrina on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

I wondered if it was helpful to have headphones or not.
Also the menues where you start with at the start of the game, where I can change the deck amd so on. I understand those.
I would need instructions for the actual battles because I have no idea what I am doing.

By tunmi13 on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

Because it is the mobile version of the game and movement is not required like the console versions, the use of headphones does not affect the overall experience.
With that being said, here are the commands.
• Tap the screen a few times to land an attack.
• Hold two fingers on the screen for a continuous period to block, reducing the damage taken.
• When VoiceOver instructs you to, swipe in the direction it asks to add to your attack.
• To switch characters, positioned on the left side of your screen are your characters from top to bottom. For the first character, which is in slot 1, tap in the upper left portion of the screen. For the character in slot 2, or the middle character, tap the middle left portion of the screen. For the bottom character, or slot 3, tap at the bottom left of the screen.
• There are times your character will be able to perform special moves. This is in the bottom left corner of the screen, though it is a hit or miss. When you hear a swoosh sound, VoiceOver will tell you different commands depending on the character. For example, tap fast, rapid swipes left/right/up/down, tap the red minus in the middle (also hit or miss), or simply don't really do anything.
If it makes it any easier, each character has their own summoning sound when being summoned to the field. This should help you differentiate between the characters you are swapping out.
Hope this helps.

This game is fun. Right up my alley. One issue I am running into though is the loading or setting presets. Anyone know how to do this effectively?
Also, how to set all the functions like equipment and such?
Thanks here’s to hoping this stays accessible and become more accessible as well.

By Brad on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - 02:36

This game is quite simple when it comes to fighting so a controler wouldn't work, as far as I know.

You'd need to buy extra bits to set it up and in my oppinion; setting it up just to not have it work isn't worth it.

By tunmi13 on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 - 02:36

Sorry for reviving such an old topic. I never figured out the quests process, but if I do I will update on here.

The best Mortal Kombats can be found when using the Delta game emulator. This is nothing but a cash cow, that almost have nothing to show for it. Seriously, the Delta emulator has opened many doors for me. I'll be busy for quite awhile.
