The game is played in rounds. the third round is always the boss of the current level. at the start, you have six letters in your hand. you need to create words with them to beat the current score to proceed to the next enemy.
After each round, you can access a shop that will allow you to add items to your inventory. these items have a rarity to them, they can be common, uncommon, rare, epic and legendary.
The items can have different effects, examples: doubling or tripling the value of a letter or word, allowing you to have extra discards or words for each run, and many more for you to discover.
The bosses from each level apply debuff effects, such as making a few letters score 0 points, or giving you less discards and words, So they are much harder compared to the regular enemies.
The game also has the gem system, allowing you to get permanent upgrades for your character, so they stay with you for future runs.
The gems can be bought at the special shop, it's available after you kill a boss from each level, as well as when you die. If you've saved a few points instead of spending it all on new items for the current run you can get these gems for the permanent upgrades, they allow you to unlock more than six letters, increase your inventory slots, as well as many other awesome surprises.
When you start a new game, if you move your finger around the screen, you can get used to where all the important information is located.
At the top you have the level information, the reward for the current round, your ammount of coins, if you click these buttons and navigate by headings you will be able to read some extra info, because sometimes it's loaded on top of the main screen, but you can still find it if you press a button and aren't finding what you want by dragging the finger around the screen.
The second info you're going to be wanting to check is your current points and to the right you can find the ammount of points needed to advance to the next round.
The next part of the screen still going from the top will be your list of items (you have nothing at the start).
After that you have the info regarding your current word being written (if there's any letters). before submitting a word, you can explore the middle of the screen to learn how many points you're going to get for the current word.
Then in the bottom half you have your letters to make all the words. if you double tap a letter, it's automaticaly added to the word. even if voiceover says "dimmed" the buttons still work just fine.
The wild letters work the same way as the other ones. just choose any letter and it will be added to your current position in the word.
Bellow your letters you have a list of buttons, from left to right: Rearrange: Don't press this button. it's not useful for voiceover users and will make you unable to add a letter to a word, to unlock it you must press the button again if you accidentaly double tap it.
Discard: if you select one letter, it will discard it and give you a new one.
Play: When you double tap all the letters you want it will submite the word and give you the ammount of points
The fourth button either deletes all the letters that you've selected, or shuffles the letters to help you with new ideas.
And the last button is backspace, which just deletes one letter.
Please note: if you type one word which is not in the list, you'll have to use either the backspace to delete letter by letter or the reset inputs button to clear the whole word (which I always prefer).

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some minor accessibility issues with this app, but they are easy to deal with.

Other Comments

I'm here to share with you the most addicting word game I've ever played. This is a brand new release, I've found about the game yesterday. the person who recommended it said that the game was a mix of Scrabble and Balatro. This was enough to convince me to buy the game right away, and I can definitely say that I can't put it down. I've played it for many hours these two days, and would recommend the game even if you're not a fan of word games.

I’ve just started this game, and I think I'm going to love it.
However, I just can't get how to use the items I've bought...
I've located them in the top section of the screen, but can't find a button to play them when selecting.
The only option that comes up is the close button, and pressing the play button while the item's explanation is open just closes the dialogue.
Any help is appreciated .

Hey Luca!
some items are activated automatically, examples: those that increase your score. the only ones that you can use once are the consumables like extra discards and extra words for the round. they can only be used once the round starts, when you double tap them at the top of the screen there will be a button to use it.
Also the game received a number of updates this week adding labels to all other buttons and now it has music and sound effects! super fun!

Using the items doesn't seem to be working for me, either. I can select them just fine but the actual use button that shows up in the popup does nothing. I think it's a bug because it used to work fine before the last update.

Hi Matheus, thank you for the tips!
I think I’ve been trying to use the items after my first word, so that may be the reason.
I haven't updated the game yet, but I'll give it a try.

If it didn't I'd not enjoy it but with the music and little click sounds it's truely something I'll be keeping on my phone for a long time.

I don't usually like phone games but this is actually fun.

It could do with a bit more accessibility, it would be nice for example to know what letters are selected and upgrading your letters is a bit confusing, there's also 3 unlabled buttons in the shop I believe, if you could let the dev know; that would be great!

DO coins save with each run or is it best to just use them up?

By Brad on Saturday, December 7, 2024 - 17:02

To answer my question, no, the money doesn't save with each run.
If I read the tutorial correctly I would have known that ;)

How it works is once you've won a game and tapped on the get five, for example, then you'll see some unlabled buttons, flick to the left of them and you'll find your bufs, these are very important, you want these!

They might say something like, wxw, then if you flick right you'll hear, five, that means that buff will cost you five coins. double tap on the WXW part of the buff, a screen will open and you'll be able to read what the buff does and decide to buy it or not, I'd recommend buying as many as you can.

Oh yeah, the button labeled 8, from what I understand; it's a reroll button, I'd not use that unless you're very sure. Coins aren't the easiest to get in this game after all.

SPOILER below this line.

Well, they might be in a way, the game is broken as far as I can tell, for example; the game allowed the word div.... What's a div? Well if you're from the UK, you might know it to mean an idiot, I've not heard it used these days and would call it really old slang but it let me do that, do I think the game knows that div is old slang? No :) But I do think you can brake the game if you use certain letters in certain ways.

I bought a thing and found it wasn't for me, shocker,. I must stop doing that, I don't need the newest thing just because it sounds fun for 10 minutes.

I think the game would be fun on pc/mac, I won't buy it though, I can't sink more money into these little games.
