Description of App

Move over Solitaire, there's a new king of card games! King's Corner, also known as Kings in the Corner, has arrived for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. This addictive multiplayer card game is as challenging as it is fun, with a custom AI that never misses a move. You'll quickly get sucked in by the rich gameplay, stunning animations, and gorgeous design that's miles ahead of most iOS card games. It's also fully compatible with VoiceOver, so players with limited or no vision are always welcome. If you're running iOS 4.1 or later, you can face of against your friends or play a game with an opponent randomly selected via Game Center. You can track your winning streaks and even earn achievements for your quickest wins. Please note that while some other apps out there claim to be King's Corner, our app follows the traditional rules and is a very different game from the one that is widely available. Please take a moment to ensure that you are aware of how this version is played before you make your final purchasing decision. --- Game Rules --- King's Corner uses the same basic rules as games like Solitaire—cards are placed in descending order and in alternating colors. A red 9 can be played on a black 10, or a black ace can be placed on a red 2. The deck is set up with 8 spaces around the deck; four king spaces (marked with a K) and four unmarked spaces. You'll get a new card at the beginning of every turn, and the goal of the game is to get rid of your cards first by making as many of the following types of moves as possible: • Add a card to any existing stack • Move a card or stack in one unmarked space to the bottom of any other card or stack. King stacks don't move, since there's nothing higher than a King. • Start a new stack if there's an empty space on the table. Only kings can start the corner stacks, but any other card can start a stack in one of the four unmarked spots.

If you updated King's Corner to version 1.5.7, don't pannic. The sound effects will be fixed soon. Note: I was the user who indicated on this site that I had reported an accessibility problem to the developer. I wish I had not selected that link. I was not having any accessibility problems with the version I purchased. I updated the ap based on the following description. What's New in Version 1.5.7 Fixes an issue where sound effects could block VoiceOver announcements. After updating to this version, there was no sound when releasing a card moved to a new location. This meant that I did not know if the computer made a play during its turn. I reported this to the developer and received the following response the next day. Hi there, thanks for your email. I'm sorry to hear that you're having these issues, and I wanted to let you know that I'm aware of them, and that I've managed to fix them with the next update, version 1.6. I'll be submitting it to Apple for approval later this week, and you should see it go live in the app store a little while after that. Sorry for the inconvenience, and let me know if I can help you with anything else! Sincerely, Justin Bianco Springbok The developer of King's Corner is very responsive and genuinely interested in making the game accessible and fun for VoiceOver users. Watch your app store notification for version 1.6.

A new version of King's Corner was released on 03/15/2012. The new version fixed the sound effects problem I reported just 11 days earlier. But that's not all! It is much easier for VoiceOver users to place cards on the stack or the empty spot. With prior versions, I often had to try several times to release the card at just the right spot to remain on the stack. But with the latest version, I successfully place the card on the first attempt most (if not all) of the time. The accessibility of this game has just risen to 100% in my opinion.

Hello, I have gone to play a multi player game on Kings Corner multiple times. It comes up with an error and there are cards dealt out onto the table. I know it has something to do with connecting up with other players. Any info is appreciated.
Hello there, I have kings corner and I have tried to play on line with others under the multi player button. It says searching for other players. I wait and then it appears to encounter some type of error and I hit the button and there are cards dealt out and no one to play with? I have latest version and not sure what the issue could be? Any one else playing this game out there. Apart from that issue I love the game. blusword Thanks
The only thing I can think of is that a lot of people on game center do not play this game. Add me if you want too. My nick name on there is the 13th bat my email is yvonneneubert@comcast.net I really like this game too.

Hey, I was wondering how do you move a card so that it is ontop of another card, like a stack... when I move them, they just end up next to each other as appose stacking ontop of each other... Thanks:)

I just purchased this app, but so far am not sure what to do. As I understand it, you have to stack a card on top of another, but all I've been able to do is to move a card between others. I then hit the Done button, and the computer moves it's cards judging by the sounds, then I'm told it's my turn again. Can someone please explain how you're supposed to play this game?

I don't know if these questions were answered elsewhere but here goes: First of all, I wouldn't exactly call the game 100% accessible. I guess I need to drop the developer a note next, but it is quite useable. What is really lacking is a way to move accross and down to scope out all the laid out cards without missing something. Of course, you can poke around the screen, which is what I guess we all do. Then, it would be nice if you could do something like double tap on a card in your hand and tap where you want to move it, or a move button and then the location. What you have to do is tap and hold on the card or stack you are moving and then drag your finger to where you want to move it to. When you are actually positioned over a possible stack, you will hear the name of the top most card. For example, if I want to move a black 4 from my hand onto a red 5 that's laid out, I tap and hold the 4, drag my finger to where the 5 is, and when I am actually on the 5, I hear "red 5". Or the suit, if you have the suits enabled. Then let go. 80% of the time it just works, but check to see if it's there. I don't know why but occasionally a card just won't seem to sit where it clearly can belong and when you release your finger, it's back where it started. I find if I try again and move my finger past the card and back again from different directions to make sure I'm really centered, it usually works, but occasionally I have to try 3 or 4 times to get it settled. The other thing you need to do is turn on what's called "button scrolling" in settings. Because your hand can become wider than the number of cards that can be displayed on the screen. With button scrolling turned on, if you tap "scroll right, you will see the cards in your hand that are on the far left and then scroll left to view the right-most cards. aAfter you are dealt a card, you are always left bact at the right side of your hand. You can also rearrange the cards in your hand with a tap and hold and moving the card to the left or right. You do clearly hear which cards you are between or beyond. The issue with button scrolling, is when I leave a game for a while and come back or start fresh, even though the option is turned on, the scroll arrows are not there. You can go to settings, even during a game without ending the game, and turn the option off and then on again and presto, the buttons are back. I have not tried to play with actual real players, but you can also play against 3 or 4 game-generated hands. The problem here is that the setting doesn't stay. If you leave the game open for a while and then start a new game, even though you were playing a 3 or 4 player game when you left, you always come back to a 2 player game. And theere is no neutral starting point. If you go to settings, and choose a 3 or 4 player game, you always get the message that you will need to end the current game, even if you hadn't started one yet. This last problem is probably not related to VO, but I thought I should mention it also. Despite these issues, I found that once I got used to the quirks, I do enjoy playing the game.

Thanks so much for the help. I didn't realize I have to tap and hold the cards. I'm so used to games where I click to highlight and then touch the spot I want the card. That really would be easier, but I'll give this game another try. I don't think this is totally accessible, yeah. I don't like dragging around because it's hard to have precise control that way. I used to enjoy Solitaire with real cards, so I'll see if I can't get the hang of this interface. Edit: Just played through one game on Normal difficulty. I lost. But it seems I can move cards now. Is it possible to move the stacks on the grid on top of each other? I try to but I'm not sure if it works.

I have looked at the rules a dozen times, and dragged things all over the place but still don't understand. Would someone please do a podcast or explain in this thread? I would be very grateful!

Hi! As I had read here that King's Corner is accessible with VoiceOver, I got the game today. I've only played a couple of games so far, and lost both: like other players, I know the rules, I'm just not yet very expert at moving the cards to the right places. The object of the game seems to be to make stacks of alternate black and red cards, most of those stacks starting with a king at the top. Cards are moved by double-tapping and holding them then moving them with your finger, one card at a time , but you can move more than one card before ending your turn with the Done button, to build up stacks if you can do that: if they can be moved, VoiceOver will tell you when they touch another card, but if VO says nothing that probably means a card can't be moved. I admit I'm a pretty lousy King's Corner player so far, but that may be purely because I'm a newbie at this game: however, I definitely don't regret paying out 0.89 euros for it.

Where does my friend go to accept my invitation to play a multi player game of Kings Corner?
I added friends via Game Center. In Kings Corner, I choose Multi Player game and select the friend I want to invite. I double tap the "Next" button and then send what appears to be a text message invitation to my friend. He hears the message come in. The message is identified as a Game Center invitation. But he cannot find the message. How does he accept my invitation to play?
