Ears Travel Cards

Category

Description of App

Ears Travel Cards is an fully accessible audio card game where you try to to be the first player to travel 1000 miles in your car.

You and a computer opponent are given a handful of cards.

Your turn begins by drawing a card from the deck, and then either playing the card, or discarding the card. The objective of the game is to play distance cards, such as 100 miles, so that you travel a total of 1000 miles. You also want to prevent your opponent from playing distance cards, by stopping him by damaging his car, or slowing him down. Your opponent will try to do the same to you. Both of you can play cards to fix damage caused by your opponent.

Ears Travel Cards was suggested by several blind gamers who enjoyed similar card games.

The game comes with coins; you need one coin to play. To get more coins, you can listen to advertising videos, or purchase coins as an in-app upgrade. To play the game with other vehicles, such as a sailboat and a train, there is an in-app upgrade for each type of vehicle, with realistic sounds.

I have been super excited for this game. This is one of the games that my parents used to play when they were little, and now I'm able to play it. Are there any notable differences between this and actual Mille Bornes?

I am so so happy that this game came out for ios because I used to play on rs games or sometimes quintin playroom. hoping for monopoly

I haven't found a good algorithm to play monopoly against a computer. I think only a game center version would work.

I downloaded this game a couple of hours ago and just love it! The gestures are very easy to deal with and the game is easy to understand. I had another 1000 miles game on my iPhone but the gestures in that one were a lot more complicated. This one wins hands down. I also love the cool sound effects. Unlike the version on RS Games, a full game doesn't take hours to play either, which is a good thing especially if you only have a small amount of time to kill.

Having never played the game before, I liked listening to the audio tutorial.

Hi! As a keen player of 1000 Miles on the PC, sometimes in Quentin C's playroom but mostly on RS Games, I'm very pleased with the arrival of an accessible Blindfold Games equivalent in the App Store. I've already played three games of Blindfold Road Trip after installing the app yesterday, and won one of them: I shall certainly continue to play the game a lot, with random computer opponents as their skill can change how challenging the game gets for me. I love the flexibility in Blindfold Road Trip, where you can choose between three distances to race the computer opponent to, and customise the computer opponents' names, skills and personallities. Ten out of ten once again to Blindfold Games for yet another great app!

I don't know which gesture to use when discarding Cards. Any help would be appreciated! I love the game though!

do a single finger triple tap on the screen to discard the card

By Ornella on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 - 12:12

how about doing a card version of monopoly? I've never played the card version but I know its faster than the dice. meaning that the games finishes quicker. I could probably do some research about the card version and email you about it.

Hi. While I like the game concept, I don't like how there isn't an option to watch videos to get coins. Please include this in a future update.

By HarmonicaPlayer on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 - 12:12

greetings I was the one in the tutorial and I believe I mentioned if you tap 3 times with 1 finger it discards a card:)

Hi all. Once again great addition to the app store Marty. I noticed though that you get points for the power up cards, but I still always see zero points, but I know i've use say the power gas, if I'm out of gas, and I thought that was when you get the points, instead of going more gas then go. Another thing I noticed, if you are already moving, you can still play a go card. wouldn't it be easier to have that automaticly be discarded? otherwise, you'd be able to play a Go when you're already going. Hope that made some sense.

By Siobhan on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 - 12:12

Hi Marty. Here's where my confusion is: I lose the game: i have six hundred twenty five points for distance, two hundred points for power up crds, but where i'm confused it it will then say zero points for powerups. In other words, whenI play the power go after being stopped, not only do I get the 100 points for that, but shouldn't there be more points, because I used the powerup after I've been stopped? Does that make any more sense? I swear this would come out easier via voice then me explaining it. I'm sorry if I am confusing you roanyone else. but can anyone else help explain this better then I?

A power up is 400 points - you get that when you use a power card when someone plays a hazard on you.
A power card is 100 points - you get that when you never used the power card on a hazard immediately when the hazard was played.

I have noticed that when you play blindfold road trip, you do not need coins. Is that right?

By That Blind Canuck on Thursday, June 23, 2016 - 12:12

The game does indeed use coins, but I don't think you hear the coin sound when starting a new game, as I started one yesterday and didn't hear the little coin drop sound. You are given about 10 or 15 coins to start off with, and if you find that you play a lot and enjoy the game, you can gbuy the unlimited coin pack and never have to worry about coins again.

I still do not think that coins are used in this game, because I have played many times but the number of available coins has not been reduced. However, I have never intended to buy coins. Do you think there is a problem?

I'm really not a gamer. I've had an iPhone for 3 years; up until a few days ago, I'd never downloaded a game. I just decided to start exploring the world of accessible iOS games, and I've downloaded a few from the blindfold series. I'm finding this one in particular very addictive and have spent more of my weekend than I care to admit playing it. I'd never played a game like it before, so wasn't familiar with the concept, but I found it easy to learn, thanks to the Applevis podcast demonstrating it. Keep up the great work!

I've been asked several times for more vehicles: trains, planes, space craft.

It's hard to come up with enough unique sounds for the other modes of transport. I need about 4 hazard sounds, 4 repair sounds, 4 power up sounds, sounds for each speed, and a few others, about 25 or so in total. If peo[;e can give me ideas for enough sounds, I can do it.
