Description of App
The DDHeroes is a turn based strategy war game. Heroes running around the map with creatures in their armies, battling other creatures and hero armies, gaining experience and learning new skills, collecting resources and artifacts, capturing mines and castles and building improvements to existing castles in order to produce and hire more powerful creatures. Usually the aim is to rule the world by defeating all other heroes and capturing all of their castles. A player can have multiple heroes either running or sailing around the map or garrisoned in a castle.
Each adventure turn (consisting of you and AI moves) is represented as a single day, and days are organized into cycles of weeks and months. At the start of each week, creature dwellings produce new recruits, and in most cases neutral armies will increase in size. The primary resource is gold, which is generated by towns on a daily basis. Gold alone is sufficient for obtaining basic buildings and most creatures. As construction progresses, increasing amounts of secondary resources such as wood, ore, gems, crystal, sulfur, and mercury are required. These resources, as well as gold, are produced at mines and other secondary structures, which are located on the map and require heroes to capture them. As with towns, mines can also be captured by enemy heroes, presenting an additional avenue for conflict.
Combat occurs on a hexagonal grid battlefield, and turn-based too. Creatures in an army are represented by unit stacks, each of which consists of a single type of creature, in any quantity. Five of stacks are available to each army, and army morale suffers with mixing incompatible unit types. Several random factors affect combat result, and hero abilities, artifacts and spells influence a unit's luck and morale ratings. A unit that triggers good luck deals more or receives less damage, and a unit that triggers high morale receives an extra chance to attack. Heroes do not act as units, and cannot be harmed. Surrendering allows the player to keep the remaining units intact after paying a heavy price in gold.
The strategy logic and user interactive concept are inspired by the original Jon Van Caneghem's Heroes of Might and Magic II. Most maps in the game come from public domain generated by fans and licensed by the creative commons license or free to use license.
Let's start playing with the following features: 6 types of castles/heroes, 4 primary skills, 14 secondary skills, over 70 spells/artifacts/structures, 9 terrain types and 66 creatures.

Re. DrummerGuy: splitting stacks
You must long press on the stack you want to split and then drag and drop on an empty unit slot. Doing this from castle to hero or vice versa is easy because the slots are large. It’s a bit more tricky when you want to split from hero to hero, because not only the slots are smaller but they are also displayed on a straight line. So God help you if you want to split the stack on the far left to an empty slot on the far right.
What I do is that I empty the slot next to the stack that I want to split, split the stack to the newly open slot and then transfer the whole stack which I just split.
Is it possible to transfer unit between castles?
First of all, thank you for the answers given to my questions before.
Now I would like to know if it is possible to transfer units from Castle to Castle and I still don't understand how to transfer unit from one hero to the other.
Thanks in advance for your help.
I am having so much fun with this game.
Castle to castle
You can’t transfer units from castle to castle. That would involve teleporting units from one castle to the other.
What you can do is transfer units from the castle to a hero and then use the town portal spell to teleport the hero to whichever castle you want.
To transfer units from hero to hero, you must first select a hero and then move him on a tile that another hero is standing on. When you have targeted the tile you want and the movement action is over, a screen will open in which you can transfer units, split stacks or transfer artifacts from one hero to the other.
@Panais: thank you for your answers
I sure have learned a lot from you, my friend.
Thank you for all your help.
Now I have two more questions and, hopefully, after this I will be doing much better.
What is the town portal spell? Is this an artifact I need to find?
Another question is regarding the game data file.
Where can I find it?
Once again, thank you for all your help.
You are awesome.
Thank you and have a wonderful day, my friend.
Town Portal
The town portal spell is a fifth-level spell learned from a mage guild in your castle. It’s pretty rare. Three special artifacts in combination will also give you this spell; I’m not going to say which ones for spoiler reasons.
@Tayo: thank you
I will be sure to pay attention and, hopefully, I will make one of my heroes reach level five.
I have another question regarding attackable units:
When you double tap on and attackable unit, it gives you the option to attack from top right, bottom right, left, right, and so on.
What is the best way to go about it?
It looks to me as if it is more based on how lucky you are unless I am missing something here.
How do you decide which way to attack from?
Honestly, I have recruited and lost so many heroes and many strong units such as cyclops, Minotaurs, hydrous, etc.
And the sad thing is that I am losing to Myr skeletons.
I don't seem to be able to make one of my heroes go past level three.
By the way, when one of your heroes abandons your cause, and if it happens that the same hero becomes available for you to recruit again, do they go back to level one?
Thank you for your help and I am very sorry for this lengthy post.
Have a wonderful day.
Attackable units
The choice from where to attack is a strategic one. For example if there is a unit you want to attack on 05.05 and on 06.06 there is another enemy unit, you might want to attack from top left as for your unit to be unreachable for the unit on 06.06, assuming the enemy unit hasn’t got enough movement to reach your top left attacking unit.
In general, in the beginning of a game, try to use ranged units to attack the monsters, in order for you to minimize losses. You can always save before a battle and if things go wrong you can load the file.
Concerning the town portal spell and the rest of the LVL 5 spells, you can also find them in castles you conquer. Also note that the wizard has one more spell in every LVL, given by the library building.
Regarding the data files, I have no idea where to find them.
@Panais: thank you for your answers
Thank you so much for your help. Everything is going much better now.
Definitely it is more fun now that I understand it.
by the way, in the game they mention castles and towns.
I always assumed that the castle was considered the town in the game.
Then again, I am barely learning how to play so perhaps I will find a town very soon.
Take care.
Castles and towns
There is in fact a difference between towns and castles. Towns are settlements you can conquer but in order to build anything inside them you first need to build a castle. Once you build a castle in a town, the town becomes a castle and you can then start building stuff inside. If I remember correctly, to build a castle in a town you need 5000 gold, 20 wood and 20 stone.
@Panais: got it. Thank you.
If it had not been for your help, I would definitely have missed out on a wonderful game.
Well, then I guess that's what happened last night. I finally attacked a castle and after the battle I got a message saying that I needed 20 wood and 5000 gold to build a castle.
Thank you for your help.
I am happy I gave this game a chance.
I guess I will come back to BC 4000 hoping that this time I will get it as well.
DrummerGuy
Once you get the hang of BC4000, you will have so much fun. Knowing that almost every nation on Earth is a part of that game, The ability to build your own world and scenarios, The fact that there are so many city names for all those nations, The fact that you can replace city names you don't like with names of your own makes it an absolute treasure. It is one thing to have your country on any game's Selection list. Having your hometown on there makes it something else entirely. I for example, was super surprised to find that my own hometown which is Vanderbijlpark in South Africa was also on that list. You just don't hear about my little town. Anyway like I said before, feel free to ask any questions if you get stuck. I for one, would be happy to help where I can.
Help with movables
Hello, my friends.
Today I would like to ask for your help on what strategy to use when units are not attackable or shootable but, instead, it only says movable.
For example, if the unit that is my target is on tile 10/5 and the current unit is on 2/7 but it cannot be shot because the attacking unit is not at a close range.
Thank you for your help. :-)
Movable units
In your example, In order for the unit on 2.7 to attack the enemy unit on 10.5, it must first get in range. Let’s say you’re unit is an iron golem. Since iron golems move only 2 tiles per turn if I remember correctly, your unit needs 4 turns to reach 10.5.
So when it’s the turn of your iron golem to move, a 2 tile radius around 2.7 will be indicated as movable, and the rest of the tiles will have no indication besides their coordinates.
So you must move your iron golems. 2 tiles once per turn, until you get in range of the 10.5 unit. Once your golems are in range, the 10.5 unit will be indicated as attackable.
Of course iron golems are very slow units, so they are best used in your back lines defending your ranged units, instead of crossing the battlefield and attacking the enemy units. For attacking the enemy back line, I E ranged units or slow units crossing the field, fast units like boars or any flying unit are best for the job.
Keep in mind that you must always defend your ranged units by placing other units next to them. For example, when playing with a wizard, place your halflings on 0.0 By default, and then move your golems to 1.0 and your boars to 1.1. Since the boars occupy 2 tiles on the battlefield, in our example 1.0 and 1.1, your Haflings which are on 0.0 are completely boxed in by your golems and your boars and thus are immune to melee attacks.
@Panais: regarding moving units
Thank you. I will put it to practice.
Is there a way to know how many tiles can each unit move? For example, sprites, dwarves, etc.?
Thank you for all the help you have given me.
Unit speed
Outside battle a if you double tap on a unit and then double tap again, the unit stats will appear one of which is speed.
Also in battle, the tiles which are within range of a unit are indicated as movable.
Got it. Thank you.
It's very clear now. Thank you so much.
The way I see it, this game just gets better with every update.
Who knows what the next one will bring.
I saw an update for BC4000 a day or two ago.
Maybe one for DDDragons will be coming soon.
A surprise
On a whim I decided to check my Mac purchases, and DD Heroes is actually listed as one of them. I installed it on my MacBook Pro 2017 and it does work with VO on the Mac. The only problem seems to be the fact that the Mac doesn't have a vertical navigation option in its rotor so the map is difficult. Is this meant to work on Mac or is this just a case of my store not filtering purchases correctly? I would dearly love to be able to play this properly on the Mac; there are so few games available here.
By design
I think it’s meant to work on Mac as well. What about BC 4000? Is it also available?
no sadly
I checked the developer's apps in the store and B.C. 4000 isn't listed. On my Macbook the game is a bit sluggish when loading maps. Perhaps this is meant for the more modern Macs.
Any news regarding an update?
I won't ask what's coming in the update but just wondering if there will be one soon.
I guess I just love this game too much.
Not sure but
Given how hard this developer is working on his two most popular games, which is this one and BC4000, you can almost expect an update once per week.
They are definitely two great games.
I am definitely having a blast with these two awesome games.
The developer is doing a superb job.
Alliances
Hi:
I'm playing on a map and I have AI allies. What can I do with this alliance? So far, the only perk seems to be that I can move freely in allied territory without being attacked by allied heroes; I can even take over their mines and so forth. So, what else can I do? Can I recruit from their castles as well?
Playing tips and other miscellanea
Hi:
Does anyone have any tips for the maps found in DD Heroes?? I’ve played around with several, and more than once I wished there were walkthroughs of some of the more interesting ones. FOr example, right now I’m playing the map called Ancient Magic, and I’m fairly sure a scenario shouldn’t be on month, eight, week four. Mostly I’ve just been taking over neutral castles and villages. Any tips for this map if anyone has completed it, or knows where I can find some kind of walkthrough?
Also, VO refuses to remain centered on a location once clicked; it prsists in jumping to the top of the page making it necessary to navigate back to the selected element.
Help with puzzle
Hello, friends.
I was wondering if there's a way to deal with the puzzle right after you visit the obelisk.
As you know, it opens a window with a map but I don't know what to do once I am there.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Waiting anxiously for a new update.
:-)
Focus keeps jumping
If there are any beta testers for this game, I would like to know if the issue with the focus jumping to the beginning of the map it's going to be fixed in the next update.
That's why I keep checking the App Store for an update for this game hoping that today is the day. :-)
Puzzle and Focus jumping
Regarding focus jumping, we haven’t reported it to the developer because he is quite busy at the moment with BC 4000, So it would probably be an overload for him. However, we will report it soon and he will fix it in no time like he fixes everything else.
Now regarding the puzzle, you must first visit some obelisks in order for the puzzle map to be at least somewhat revealed. Then you must compare the puzzle map to the actual map and you will find the location. I have done it lots of times using only VO so it is doable. Since the treasure is located on the center tile of the puzzle map, in order to locate the xact tile under which the treasure is hidden on the actual map, you must first count the vertical and horizontal tiles of the puzzle map in order to locate the center tile.
I think the puzzle map is 11 x 11 so to locate the center tile, begin from the top left and from there go 5 tiles right and 5 tiles down.
If the above is not clear enough, feel free to ask for further clarifications.
@Panais:
Thank you, my friend, for your help.
I followed your instructions and it worked just like you said.
About the developer of this game and BC4000, I have to say that he is really awesome.
The new update for BC4000 is wonderful.
Even though I am still learning how to play, I certainly enjoy it.
I don't think I'll be playing online against other players yet because I am still figuring out some stuff.
Once again, thank you for your help.
Take care.
Castles and towns
I need help.
Whenever I capture a castle it says, for example, one Castle, one town.
When I decide to build the castle, no longer says town. It says two castles and zero towns.
If I leave it as a town, it will only let me build very few buildings so, in order to be able to build more, I have to build a castle.
Am I missing something here?
By the way, wouldn't it be nice if there were more monsters in the game?
I mean monsters such as manticores, chimeras, Sea monsters, etc.
Any news about a new update?
I am very sorry if I seem or sound ferry eager but the truth is I would like to know if the focus issue will be fixed.
And, of course, hoping for new things as well.
Boost player?
So, today I accidentally triple tapped on the game control button and this window opened that said:
Alert, boost player.
There is an edit field which says pass code.
Then there are two buttons which say not now, and the next one says, boost player.
I don't know what that is for but, I tried it and nothing seemed to happen.
Any idea about what that is for and what does it do?
Boost player and update
I have no idea what is the boost player thing. I have also come across it and I believe it’s something for the developer to work with the game, but I’m not sure.
About the update, the developer was quite busy updating BC 4000 and I didn’t want to overload him. I think now is an okay timing however so I will contact him soon.
Concerning castles and towns, I believe that there is an explanation on the comments above.
@Panais
Thank you so much for your help.
About castles in towns, I don't know how I could forget that you had already explained that to me before.
And, about the "boost player "thing, now I am even more curious about it.
I suppose that would be a good question for the developer. It might be something that could come to the game sometime in the future.
Or maybe it's just nothing. LOL.
I have another question.
When you visit a traveler's tent the woman says that she has the answer you're seeking. But there is nothing else.
What is that all about?
As always, I am very grateful for your help.
How to actually start playing the game.
I just got this game today and I am a little confused on exactly where to start. I have read all of the comments in this thread but I am still confused a little. When I start the tutorial what is the first thing to do. And how do I split units when whenever I touch and drag it doesn’t tell me where I’m moving to.
Starting the game
The things you must do on the first turn are to build a statue from the buildings interphase and then recruit some units. Gold is the primary resource of the game because it allows you to recruit units and it is also required for all buildings.
The second objective is to conquer the sawmill and ore mine in order to get some wood and some stone on every turn. Both of these resources are extremely valuable, especially in the beginning of the game, Because they are needed for the building of the first 3 or 4 unit buildings. Thus you must conquer the respective mine as soon as possible. Within the first 2 to 4 days is the optimal but if you do it within the first week you should be OK.
In order to build the buildings that are required for recruiting stronger units, you must also have sulfur, mercury, gems and crystals. So depending from the building requirements, you must focus on conquering these minds as well at some point, again as fast as possible. However these mines are usually guarded by stronger units so make sure you can take them without suffering lots of casualties.
Also take in account that spells are extremely useful, so if you are a rookie better pick a magic user class and focus on upgrading your magic guild. However, note that you can’t learn level 4 and 5 spells if you don’t upgrade your heroes wisdom skill first.
If you do the above, you should be able to defeat the enemy heroes and conquer their castles when the time comes.
Regarding splitting stacks, all you need to know is written on the comments above. It’s a bit tricky to do it because indeed you don’t know exactly which empty unit slot to target, but if you practice a bit it’s very easy.
Thank you but I’m still lost
Thank you Panais but I am still a little lost on where to find the menu for building things. And by the way I am playing on the tutorial map. And on the tutorial it says to split stacks. I don’t mean to ask so many questions I just really want to play this game because it seems right up my alley.
@T-Madd
To start building in your castle, you need to look for something that will say "buildings ".
As you double tap with one finger on "buildings" a window will open which contains all the different buildings you can build.
Keep in mind that you can only build one thing at a time.
Now, to split your troops, double tap and hold with one finger on that unit you wish to split, then drag your finger to the next empty slot.
Another window will open and there you can choose to split in half or increase or decrease the number of troops you will move.
After that, just press on the "move "button.
If you do not succeed at the first try, keep practicing. You will get it.
The game is really awesome. I absolutely love it.
I also had trouble when I started playing this game. But thanks to the wonderful fellow players, I now understand the game fully. Well, 99%.
Hope that helps.
Travelers tent
Sometimes there are barriers on the map. Each barrier has its separate color. I think that by visiting the travelers tents you get a key. Then you can use the key to open the barrier. For example if you get the red key from the tent, you can then open the red barrier.
Thank you, @Panais
If I am not mistaken, that is the last thing I needed help with. Thank you very much for that.
By the way, I really love the sounds in the game.
But I think there's still room for other sounds.
Perhaps it would be nice to have a sound when you recruit troops, it could probably be some sort of marching or something like that.
I also think that it would be nice to have a sound when barriers dissolve.
There are a few other actions that do not have a sound but they escape my mind at the moment.
Oh, by the way, I have a question about Whirlpools.
I tend to avoid them but when turns and, I see in the reports that enemy heroes go into them. Why would they do that? It only causes them to lose some troops.
I rather take the long route because I don't want to lose any troops unnecessarily.
Unless there is something there that I am missing, I don't know why they do that.
Although, when it comes to them losing troops, that's better for me. LOL.
I am still eagerly awaiting an update for the game.
Hopefully it'll come soon.
Help! Game shutting down on me.
I am playing dimension door and every time I try to go to the arena I keep getting logged off.
The game shuts down and I find myself in my phone homescreen.
Is anybody else having this problem?
Disregard my last post.
It seems that my Internet is going very slow these days and that is what's causing the problem I mentioned before.
Is there a new update in the horizon for this game?
I apologize if I am starting to bug you with this question but I would like to know if this game will get an update anytime soon.
Would any of the beta testers ask the developer this question for me please?
I would like to know if the issue with focus jumping all over the place will be fixed.
And, of course, I would like to know if there will be New scenarios or stories added to the game.
Just like BC 4000, DDHeroes is also a great game.
Thank you in advance.

@DrummerGuy:
The developer is active on discord. He may be willing to answer your questions.
Anybody playing using iOS 16?
Since it is an issue related to iOS 16, I don't know if it would be appropriated for me to mention it here, but, for now, all I can say is that there is a problem with the interest points button.
Also when opening the list of spells available.
Should I talk to the developer about this?
If anyone else is playing and beta testing, iOS 16, what do you think is the right thing to do?
I wish you all a wonderful day.
Not sure
It won't hurt should you report the matter. It will help a great deal, although I'm sure the developer will update the game once iOS 16 actually becomes public. Still, reporting it now will allow him to at least look into the matter.
Right. Thank you. I will do that.
I will send him a message through Discord.
Growing frustrated with advertisements layout.
Just two or three days ago, clicking on ads to claim rewards was very easy.
Right now if you want to get resources or money, clicking to watch or listen to an ad has become a really nasty pain.
There's no way to get out of the ad page or even to claim your reward.
Am I the only one having this problem or are you guys also experiencing this issue with ads?
DDHeroes is not the only game having this problem. The same thing is occurring in BC4000.
I hope the developer finds a way to fix this problem. Although, I fear that this is. Not related to the game.
Have any of the beta testers for this game or BC4000 reported this to the developer?
I've already mentioned this issue in Discord. Hope the developer sees it soon.
ads
I had no idea those ads in DD Heroes were of any use. Wow.
@Tayo:
Yes. They give you rewards which are resources or gold.
For example, if you touch on the button, that shows you how much gold you have at the moment, it'll open a window with an ad.
By watching, or listening, or just clicking on the button that says "view ad", you get 7000 gold or seven gems, crystals, sulfur or mercury.
You get 14 ore and 14 wood with each ad.
I think that the buttons layout is great. If you need gems, touch the button that shows you how many gems you have. The same thing you do for each resource.
Now, the developer was so kind as to give me a solution for this problem.
This solution is very simple.
In the meantime, while he is trying to figure out a way to fix this issue, you double tap on the "view ad "button And once you get the message that your reward has been granted, turn off voiceover and double tap on the top/right button on the screen. It will close the window where the ad was being shown and you will get your reward.
Turn on voiceover and you will find a message saying that whatever resource you needed has been granted.
I've done it and it works. You just need to make sure to double tap right on the top/right corner of your screen.
