Description

Blindfold Color Crush is a fully accessible tile game that is inspired by Candy Crush and Bejeweled for both sighted and visually impaired people, designed for rapid audio play.

The objective of Blindfold Color Crush is to remove as many colored gems as possible, by swapping adjacent gems, to get 3 or more similar colored gems in a row. You can set the game to identify gems as color names, such as red or blue, or fruits, animals or numbers. Each time you complete a level by removing many gems, you move on to the next level.

Blindfold Color Crush comes with a Beginner Game, a Standard game and a Timed Trial game.

Blindfold Color Crush was suggested by several blind gamers who enjoyed Blindfold Tile Puzzle and Blindfold Dominos.

I noticed there isn't an option to get coins by watching a video.

does this mean we have to pay for coins from now on?

if so, you might want to edit the documentation that says you can earn coins by watching ads.

Love this, i'm just playing the beginner mode right now because that's more like "Zen mode" in Bejewelled. It's easy but relaxing especially with that classical music backdrop. It does say in the documentation that videos can be seen to get coins though I just go unlimited coins on all this guy's games because they're that good. It's a well done game and it works fine.

Hi there! I don't understand this game yet; will definitely have to read help and try to figure it out, but I've found what is, for me at least, a pretty serious bug. I always disable the background sounds/music in the blindfold games as I find them distracting. I would rather be able to clearly hear the game sounds and speech. Anyway, I went in and told it that I wanted the background music off, but no matter what I do, the music stays at medium. It absolutely will not change, much less save my choice for that option. I guess I'll have to contact the developer, but thought I'd post it here in case anyone else is having a similar problem.

By Ornella on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I'm having the same problem with the music.

By KE7ZUM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I'll have to give this game a try. I suck at games like this, but it's worth a challenge if ever I need to hurt my brain cells in this kind of stuff.

Blessings to all.

Thanks for the bug report. I'll take care of that in the next version.

I have been longing for an accessible jewel game practically since I got my first iPhone and why we have not had one till now is a mystery to me. Diamond Dash, the only usable mainstream alternative, is getting harder to use with every update, so I'm delighted to see this lovely game. I found it a little hard to get the hang of at first, but once I did there's been no stopping me, I'm totally hooked! If I have one tiny criticism it is that the sound effects could be slightly better. Sometimes I can't hear if I have successfully got into swap mode, and it would be nice to have some tinkly sounds when we remove gems and new ones are added, to give the game more atmosphere. This is comment, however, not carp. It's lovely to play and I'm thrilled to have it on my phone.

What kind of sound do you want for swapping?
Sometimes when removing gems and inserting new ones, there could be many activities at once.
Do you want one tinkle for each event, or something else. Please be as specific as possible so I get it right.

Hi! I installed Blindfold Color Crush over the weekend, and played it for the first time last night: I find this a rather addictive game, so maybe I shouldn't play it too often late at night, that might lead to me going to sleep later than I should! (Smile). Seriously, I'm really enjoying this game: like others, I found the bug where the background music won't turn off even if you set it to do so, but that's definitely not a deal-breaker. Since I find Blindfold Color Crush hard to put down once I settle down to playing it, I bought unlimited coins for it, as I have done for most of the blindfold games, but I can understand the concerns of those who prefer to listen to advertisements to earn coins rather than buying them. This is still an excellent game in spite of some bugs, so thanks again to Kid Friendly Software for this and all the other apps in the Blindfold Games series.

I agree with the dev on the sounds. It's a lot different for sighted players because they see the events in real time as matches are made and jewels are removed from play. We're different as blind people because we must be told every circumstance. Extra sounds would personally put me off the game entirely unless they could be manually turned off. It's a nice quiet affair as it stands, let's not turn it into call of duty bejewelled.

By Karok on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

hi all having never played a similar game like this before, i am struggling to understand how it works. i know we are pairing together gems to remove them off the board yet, if i hear say a zip pop sound on a blue square does that mean i can swap it with another colour? how do i know which colours will be removed? a podcast on this game would be useful. glad you are all enjoying it and sure i will too. i have read through the help five times lol

Basically, move gems around so that you get 3 in a line, either across or down. It isn't dissimilar to the change reaction game for mac or Windows. Best thing to do is to learn the game on beginner mode first and have a few goes at it.

The next version will have more sound effects that can be shut off in settings.

By KE7ZUM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

Love the magic flute. Lol! However I don't get the game very well. I see the stuff that matches and numbers for me are easier. Maybe it's because I'm a musician I dunno. But I'm not getting a pattern of how to pick where to swap, not without the swap sound. Any advice on how to understand the game? I read the help but this has not been an easy set of games for me to play. I like that. It's a fun challenge.

By the way here is the full piece for anyone interested including the dialogue after the piece. I don't have my libretto handy though, sorry.

By TJT 2001 on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I like the music, but I did not know that it was from The Magic Flute.

Basically, you swap gems that are close enough so that three or more of a kind match. There's no pattern to it, it's all randomised at the beginning of play and once matches are made, new random gems are put on the bottom I think. Don't treat it like a serious puzzle, just look around, swap gems and score points. It's not like the tile puzzle game of his in which you strategise a lot more.

By Clare Page on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I'm very grateful that we can enable a sound in the Color Crush settings to indicate which gems are swappable, otherwise I'd probably have found this game rather confusing. If any of you can play Color Crush without needing the swap sound, all well and good, but I can't do without that sound, not yet anyway.

By That Blind Canuck on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I also noticed this bug too, but it isn't really a major one and I am pretty certain that the developer will have it fixed in no time. This is the first bug I have found in all of the Blindfold games, so I am not worried, we just have to make sure that we help the developer in pointing out bugs so that he can make sure to squash them quickly.

I am so glad to see that we finally get our own Candy Crush type game, and on top of it, a Bejeweled one too. Awesome!

By Toonhead on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

In a perfect world, the diamond dash and bejeweled games would be totally accessible, but unfortunately, they aren't. I'm glad this game is around. Yes, a podcast or audio demonstration about this game would be quite helpful, as I've never played a game like this before. Reading about it sounds easy, but when I play it it just isn't clicking quite yet. I know I probably sound daft, but there you are. LOL!

By TJT 2001 on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I have tried to play this game, but I just can't do it. I have read and reread the help, but the game just seems to be incredibly difficult. I am about to give up on the game.

By KE7ZUM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

As far as I understand you swap jems that are close. Turn on the swap sound as that will make things easier. The jems to swap are either up down or left right.

Hth a bit.

By kool_turk on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

What I do is look for two in a row, then it's just a matter of looking for another one that matches those.

At KE7ZUM:

See? You're getting it now. I don't use the swap sound myself, prefer the look around method but i've done these puzzles before and my partner's sighted and we've tried loads of match 3s. It's still a great implementation though, very glad it's available.

By Diane on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I play 2048 on my computer. Never could figure it out on the iPhone. I did pretty good with threes and ok with the alphabet game the one time I tried them. Not so good with Color Crush, but, I get it. James jolley is right about not treating it as a serious game. Just have fun scoring. I am really happy to have all of these games and look forward to getting better at all of them.

By jrjolley (not verified) on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

In reply to by Diane

I got to 1900 and something and ran out of moves. I enjoyed the challenge though and will have another go, threes is good fun though - absolutely love that one.

By KE7ZUM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

A warning. Each level cost a coin so I'm not really sure if the game really ends. I thought I'd let people know as I'm on beginner and have scored about 900 total points so far. Too bad I can't exchange them for coins. Lol. 100 points equals 1 coin or something like that. Lol!

If you do purchase the unlimited coins there's not a problem. A lot of the sighted match 3 games do have levels in witch you either pay something to skip the level or use some sort of power up to complete them. Colour Crush is a lot more fair because you can unlock the unlimited games option by paying for unlimited coins, all chances to complete levels are available then. He's done this one fine, it's not any sort of con at all, though the documentation could explain this aspect a little better. The beginner level will probably continue forever if you are very good at it because it is like the "Zen Mode" in Bejewelled, in short, you never run out of moves. Playing the game on "Standard" is probably better though I do admit that I like the beginner one when I am out.

I just checked - its already in the user guide. It says every time you move up a level, you use one coin.

By KE7ZUM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

Oh, I missed it then. Lol! Oopsy doodle. Yeah for some reason I thought that the game ended. At least the beginning level. lol! I suck anyway, but the game is still fun.

By Lulu Hartgen on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I'm still playing beginner level on level eighty something. How can a game so easy be so fun, so totally not boring and so completely addictive! I can't put the thing down, especially in those times like car rides, doctor's waiting rooms where they're showing Jeremy Kyle (think bad knock off of Jerry Springer, ug!) and anywhere I need to tune out and pass a few boring minutes in a fun, relaxing way. I also like playing it when I've had a lousy hard day and my brain won't stop chattering.

I'll do a podcast if it would be helpful, I don't use the swap sound and never have, maybe I'll see what it's like when I have it turned on.

I think a podcast would be helpful for the people who just don't get it. I hear from about 2 or 3 people a week that are confused, and its difficult for me to describe what to do, in any way different from what I've already created. Thanks, and I'm glad you like the game. If you have ideas for more games, please let me know.

By TJT 2001 on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

I would like a podcast because I am still not understanding this app although I have tried many times to master it.

I have a question for the developer: if a podcast was ever recorded on AppleVis for a certain app, would it be possible to access the podcast directly from the app without having to navigate to and find the podcast on the AppleVis website? The podcast could be in the about section of the Settings screen. How possible would something like this be?

By TamagotchiTune on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 - 15:08

First i want to say I love this game!!! I cant stop playing lol. Thank you for making great games like this. For everyone on here that wanted a podcast. Its not a podcast but its something. Go to youtube and type in how to play blindfold color crush. I hope it helps.

By Jenna on Saturday, January 23, 2016 - 15:08

The youtube video is ok, but it doesn't explain why the jems are swappable. A podcast would be helpful with explinations as to how you figure out the game without the cheat sounds.

I was wondering what you guys would think about a smaller grid. So instead of an 8 x 8 grid, it might be a 4 x 4 grid for beginners. This way it might be easier to remember and picture. If that doesn't make sense I can try explaining it more if you need it.

I absolutely love this game and was totally hooked from the day I downloaded it. However, today I came up against another issue. I completed a standard game and wanted to post my score to Game Centre. However, I received an error message informing me my score could not be posted until I had logged in. I am permanently logged into Game Centre. Under the previous version, I was able to post my score after completing a time trial game without an issue. Has anyone else experienced the problem I have described here?

By David Standen on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 15:08

I updated to the latest version of "Blindfold Colour Crush" this morning and am experiencing a problem when I attempt to purchase gem pack 2. I receive the following error message: "Problem with purchase. Error domain = pass code = 146 ("null")". My device identification is d 8 5 8 f 8. I have turned on Remote Logging. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I was able to purchase gem packs 1 and 3 without an issue.

By KidFriendlySoftware on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 15:08

I just found out that even if you buy pack 2 or pack 3, it gives you pack 1 instead
The fixed version will be available in about a week.

By KidFriendlySoftware on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 15:08

how many people would like a smaller grid as an alternative?

I purchased Gem Pack 3 and when looking at the various categories, it doesn't show. I saw your earlier comment about when you buy either Gem Pack 2 or 3, you get the first one. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and when I checked the categories, saw only four. There's only numbers, colors, fruits and animals. After restoring my purchases and looking at the categories again, I didn't see the first Gem Pack, it is still the four categories that were there prior to restoring my purchases.

Am I doing it wrong or something? You said that when purchasing either the second or third packs, that we get the first one instead, but I am not seeing that one either.

Either then that, love the game and hope you keep coming out with more. Hopefully a Cribbage and Euchre. Sorry to be annoying with these, but they would be great additions to the Blindfold games.

Thanks!

Someone reported this two days ago, and i previously mentioned this. Sorry. The new version should be out in less than a week with this fix.

By flcomputergeek on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 15:08

Hi:
I recall reading in the what's new section of the latest update that if one chooses the random category, the categories will change for each level. I did not see this option in settings or in the category chooser; I just see the usual four categories: colors, fruits, numbers, and animals. Is the random category option included in the gem packs that are available for purchase?

By KidFriendlySoftware on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 15:08

In reply to by flcomputergeek

This occurs once you obtain one of the upgrade packs, but wait a week; packs 2 and 3 don't work yet, and the fix should be out soon.

By That Blind Canuck on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 15:08

I just wanted to say thanks for fixing the issue. Got the update and all is working fine. I now see the purchased Gem Pack in the list of categories.

Thanks again and keep up the great work!

By David Standen on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 - 15:08

I am currently playing a random game and noticed a bug in the Baseball teams level. Cardinals, Giants, Phillies, Red Sox, Royals and Yankees are spoken but the other team within this level is not announced when I am exploring the grid. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I just found out that I put 6 not 7 teams in.
I'm fixing the bug now.

By TamagotchiTune on Saturday, April 23, 2016 - 15:08

I bought the sports gem pack. When i play the basketball one though it says "nul" when I'm swiping through.
And I just updated to the newest version. Still love this game.
