Blindfold Basketball

Description of App

Blindfold Basketball is an fully accessible audio game that's just like playing basketball on an indoor court. In Blindfold Basketball, the tutorial teaches you how to move on the court, pick up the ball, dribble and shoot with 3 lessons. Then you start playing one of the coach game. Coach tells you where to go, and which of 5 different types of shots to make: such as a free throw, dunk, hook, jump or post shot. As you move from level to level in the coach games, your shooting must become more accurate to score points. Once you get good at the coach games, you can play with opponents are the court. Depending on the game, some opponents move around randomly and others play a strong defensive game, trying to block your shots. Like the other Blindfold Games, you can post your high scores to Facebook or Twitter. Blindfold Basketball was suggested by several blind gamers who enjoyed Blindfold Bowling and Blindfold Shuffleboard. The game includes several in-app upgrades.

Though there are five shots in the game, I have realized that the coach never calls for the post shot. Am I perhaps missing something, or are the post shot just used as a free bonus shot on free modes?

Hope they create a football game and I will be more happy. One that is close to the real thing.

I'm glad we have a basketball game we can play now. One question. What are the coins we are earning for?

By DMNagel on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

Never heard anything about any coins. Then again, I have purchased the bundle.

By TamagotchiTune on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

If you look in my scores the game says you have 10 coins. But it isn't letting me use them for anything. That's why I asked. I'm about to buy the bundle though. This is a great game.

By DMNagel on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

Try playing one of the coach games. Perhaps it is used to play some of the coach games if you did not purchase the bundle, but I am not sure. All and all, a good game. I have managed to turn myself into a Michael Jordan of some sort lol.

When playing games with players on the court, I have realised that the game only announces players to your left, front and right, but not players that are behind you. This is an issue that can really mess up your game if you are moving backwards and there is someone behind you that you don't see. To test this bug, try moving around a player and go stand in front of them. You will then see that the game will not announce him standing behind you.

By thunderhorse82 on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

So, I downloaded the game and was able to check out the lessons, however, I can't play any of the games apparently with out purchasing the upgrades first. This is a bit different than all the other games where you have coins and can try the game first. So, I surmise I can’t try the game before buying?

In all of the Blindfold Games settings, there is a text field that says "Credits." Ask Marty for a code, and he will give you a code. Go to Settings and go to Blindfold Basketball, in the credits field, type the code. Go back to blindfold basketball and press a purchase you would like to make. Your Apple ID will not be needed, no money will be spent, the credits basically act like money.

You know, Marty and his beta team should be commended. This is a great first edition. The only thing that I don't understand is why there is no three-point shot. I cannot wait until other concepts are introduced into this game such as passing, Fouls, and team game play.

By TJT 2001 on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

To my knowledge, Marty will only supply credits if there is a sufficient reason as to why credits are necessary. I do not believe that he gives them to everyone, because if he did, he would make very little money.

By DMNagel on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

Besides, I have checked the settings and did not see anything regarding credits. Perhaps this text field that you are talking about disappears once a bundle is purchased. Not quite sure.

By TJT 2001 on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

The text field for entering credits appears in the Settings app.

By DMNagel on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

Thanks for clarifying. I thought it was suppose to be in the blindfold game's settings itself.

In basketball, the free coins are used to play the game prior to purchasing one of the regular games, like the coach game. it gives you a chance to try out the game. Once you get a game, that game no longer needs coins. I'm moving in that direction for lots of games.

I spent about a month on this game - far more than expected, and if you read the blogs, you'll find out why. I have 2 more blogs to publish on this. I am holding back other features till I know people love the game, as I suspect they will. I have lots more I can add to it. I want to do more sports games, and baseball will probably be next since it has a rich soundscape. Games like football and soccer have poorer soundscapes so I'm not sure what to do there.

By KidFriendlySoftware on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

That doesn't sound right. The free coins the game starts with should let you play. If someone else can try that too, please let me know if there's a bug there.

I will be updating the game to give you an option for players sneaking up from the back, and hitting you over the head. JK

By thunderhorse82 on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

Yes I did not start with any coins to play the game. So I cannot try it out in full.

By TamagotchiTune on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

Yeah it won't let you use the coins to play the games. That's why I asked about this.
Bought the bundle anyways. Lol i would have ended up buying it after I ran out of coins. I love this game.

That's a bug. I am resubmitting a new version in a day or two with that bug fixed.

Hi! I installed Blindfold Basketball the other day, and have gone through the first three lessons as well as having several goes at the coach game with same shots and positions for each level: I'm hardly a basketball expert, not even with this simplified version of the game, but I'm getting better the more i play. Which brings me to a question about the bundle, which maybe only Marty can answer. When I bought the bundle, I was told it contains 19 games: does this mean I can only play 19 games before I have to re-buy the bundle, or does it simply mean that there are 19 possible games within the bundle. I haven't yet tried dribbling with a wrist snap which is also part of the bundle, but I may well do so in the future, when I'm even better at shots and so on, and having the bundle gives me that possibility without having to make an extra in-app purchase. Three cheers yet again to Blindfold Games for yet another good game in their ever-growing collection!

By DMNagel on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

When you purchased the bundle, you will be allowed to play all available games as many times you want. You don't have to buy the bundle again.

There are a bunch of games with the bundle; it gives you unlimited play for both varieties of the coach games.
I'll be creating some more games soon, based on the survey results.

By J.R. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

Hi Marty et al,
I can also confirm I just got the game today, never used the coins, and can't play coach games at all. Says I must buy. I like the idea of the game, and love basketball. Thanks.

By DMNagel on Saturday, July 23, 2016 - 17:26

If we already purchased the bundle, do we also need to purchase these new future games? Will they come separately, or will they also have a bundle?
