Description of App

The NSW AECG Aboriginal languages app is a great tool for learning the various Aboriginal languages of New South Wales. The app features dictionaries for the Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr, Gamilaraay, Murrawarri, Paakantji and Wiradjuri languages with games to support the learning and revitalisation of these languages.

Accessibility Comments

The only accessible feature of this app is the dictionary, which only contains a small number of words. You use an unlabelled button to change the language for which you are viewing Aboriginal words.

The wordsearch grid is invisible to VoiceOver.

The pictionary game is inaccessible as it relies on users being able to look at pictures.

In the storyfill game, VoiceOver users can see the sentence containing the blank that must be filled, and the words that can fill the blank space, but it is not possible to select any word to fill the blank space as you need to drag the word into the blank space; this limitation makes this game also inaccessible.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads a few page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

Some parts of the app are accessible with VoiceOver, but not enough to make it usable.
