Accessibility Comments

The app is mostly accessible but not usable. The area which allows users to select a study session cannot be clicked and selected by VoiceOver as VoiceOver detects several controls together and can't differentiate between them.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

Some parts of the app are accessible with VoiceOver, but not enough to make it usable.

Other Comments

This is by far the best word practice and preparation app on the market which can be used to enhance one's vocabulary regardless of exams. I've sent the following message to info@brain-scape.com to describe the serious usability issue with VoiceOver. If you're interested in the app, please follow suit and send something like the following to its developers along with a link to this page so that they see lack of access to their app has been mentioned on a well-visited website. .......... I'm a visually impaired iPhone 4S user and rely on VoiceOver, the iOS screen reader, to access all features of my iDevice along with many third-party applications and games. VoiceOver can be activated in the Settings window by going to General and opening Accessibility. Anyhow, VoiceOver has difficulty activating and opening the most essential elements of GRE Vocab. When I select each deck, say "Advanced vocab words, set 2," a window opens with a description and some controls. However, VoiceOver treats the "Card list" and "Start studying" options as one single control and doesn't allow blind users to click them to start a study/review session. Once VoiceOver is turned off, sighted assistance indicates that these controls can be clicked and selected to start or resume a study session. As such, I humbly suggest that you make a change in the way these essential and important controls are presented on the screen so as to allow VoiceOver to treat them as single, clickable entities.
