Accessibility Comments

The on screen elements tend to go away after the app is launched, but a circular motion of your finger on the screen tends to bring back spoken VoiceOver screen prompts. You can easily press to speak your phrase even without VoiceOver speech, since the two language buttons are always on the bottom left and bottom right of the screen.

Just curious, how would you compare this to something like Google Translate. Google Translate is Free and isn't all that hard to use.

the biggest anoyance with Google Translate is that it likes to deactivate the headphone. Another one is that hearing the translation out loud is not automatic in Google Translate, but is so in SayHi. With Google Translate you must switch from and to languages, while in SayHi you have both buttons on the same page, conveniently on bottom left and bottom right of page. The cleaner interface in SayHi allows for a conversation to flow between two speakers without tinkering with the settings. These are both pretty usable apps, but I think SayHi is a bit more usable, and straight forward. I can't wait for VoiceOver improvements in SayHi.

The latest update (3.0.2,, January 24, 2012) does not seem quite as easy to use as earlier versions. For example, while the immediate translation always made this one of the easier translation apps to use, it now seems more difficult to flick through and have the translated phrase repeated, copied, edited or shared, Buttons for these functions now appear to be associated with a window in the middle of the screen, instead of directly above the phrases just spoken and translated. Has anyone else who has updated and is using this version found an easier way to navigate the buttons? Esther
