Accessibility Comments

The library has some router actions to make navigation a bit easier. Navigating through the library requires less flicks than other audiobook apps. Descriptions of books are broken into easy to navigate paragraphs for VoiceOver.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

I've done paid accessibility testing for them. Your library can be organized into folders for quicker navigation. Unfortunately, you can't purchase audiobooks through this app yet. Purchasing has to be done via the website.

Hi All,

Though I've been around for awhile, I've generally just learned from this community, posting the rare game when I stumbled upon one in my eternal quest for ways to unwind after work. Libro FM has a special place in my heart and I've been supporting my local bookstore through my membership since the pandemic first began, despite not actually having used most of my credits. So though the holidays are behind us, I'd love to share this with fellow AppleVis bookworms. No strings attached. Please just let me know the book title/author that you'd like and I will send over the book redemption code. No payment details are required and you can download these books in an MP3 format so you can put it onto a Victor, listen in the app, or burn CD's (do people still do that these days?) Thank you, and have a nice weekend.

Either works for me. Seeing the titles might give others inspiration for their TBR piles, but it's totally up to you. And you're most welcome!

I am trying to create my account, but it looks like I will have to do it through the website, as I cannot seem to check the box to "accept the terms". I will post again once I get this sorted and have a book title for ya. :D

I love libro.fm! Unfortunately, the last book series I finished reading was not, and I don't think ever will be due to contract and publishing rights, available on libro, so I had to deal with audible. I prefer libro though.

This is a box set, but I am guessing a single credit will cover it. If it is anything like Audible, which the service appears to be like. So if you are willing and 1 credit will do, I would love "Baldwin's Legacy" box set. Its a military sci-fi, which I am starting to get into. :)

*edit: Oops, forgot the link.*

You mention reply or PM, how do you PM someone on applevis? I have an idea for a book I might want, but I don't know how to PM.

PS, I'm just now hearing about Libro FM, they have quite a large selection, I think it will be an awesome service.

By Tiffany J. Kim on Saturday, February 8, 2025 - 20:28

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you know I don't need your E-mail addresses when you reach out. When ordering the gifts, I'm opting for the print gift certificates, and will be sending redemption links to everyone via private message here on AppleVis. Thank you for helping me use these credits, as well as inspiring me to add some new books to my TBR pile.

By Tiffany J. Kim on Saturday, February 8, 2025 - 20:28

Hi, once you click on their name and get to their profile, press enter on the link that says Contact. If you send a PM, it will show your E-mail address to them and vice versa once they reply back.

This is a great idea however, it isn't the best to use. For example, apple books will, for some reason, not transfer books purchased from Libro.FM to iPhone and I have no idea why. The app is also very rudimentary.

I love the idea of it though and want to support my local bookshop. The poor app and odd limitations of using the apparently DRM fre books in the apple books app, have made me return to audible where my library resides.

By Oliver on Saturday, February 8, 2025 - 20:28

I don't actually think they are DRM free, and this is the issue. I've worked out how to strip them but, as it stands, downloading the M4B files from their site and trying to put them on your iPhone via apple books, doesn't work.

By Moopie Curran on Saturday, February 8, 2025 - 20:28

Why apple books? Why not book player? With book player, you can transfer zipped books to it, plus, it can play books at 3x speed, I think apple books can only play 2x speed, although I haven't used it in a while.

By Oliver on Saturday, February 8, 2025 - 20:28

It was mainly so I could have my ebooks and audio books in the same place. Good shout on the book player app though.

I think I just want something that has a solid library, like books, or audible, where I can browse my library easily. I don't think this is possible with book player. I also don't think it shows the meta data, the blurb, etc, though I'm not sure if apple books does that either.

Apple books is the preference as it, if it worked, be one app to rule them all, where I can put my audible books, libro.fm and ebooks downloaded from various sources.

I've given the books requested to this point, except for one instance when a book was not available for purchase in my country. I've reached out to Libro FM about it to see if I can remedy that since I won't be accessing the book. Anyway, if I missed you or you'd like a book, let me know.

This has to be one of the nicest things any one has ever done for a group of strangers simply for being active within a particular community. So, you have my gratitude and heartfelt thanks. 🌹

Perhaps telling people how many credits you have left might be useful so they can figure out how many books are left.

So I just had a quick look at this, it's like audible, you pay £7 or whatever your currency is and get one credit per month or you can pay for books without the monthly credit.

Hi All,

Just dropping a quick update as someone suggested I give an idea of how many books I can give away. I'm akin to a dragon sitting atop a mountainous hoard at present, because I started supporting Libro in 2020 at the height of the lockdown. I'd estimate there are at least a few dozen books searching for shelves to grace. Unfortunately, as with all other dragons plagued by knights, I'm ironically dealing with one pesky Sir COVID, so I haven't gotten to any requests today. Rest assured I will resume my noble quest once I dispatch this bothersome foe into the pits of Tartarus from whence it came! Until later today or tomorrow, may the books be ever in your favor!

Hello All,

Sorry my delay was longer than I thought. Brain fog is a real thing! However, I am now caught up. If I somehow missed you, please do let me know. It's possible I missed a private message. I'm still sitting on about a dozen and a half books I'm willing to gift. Thank you, and have a great weekend.
