I usually look forward to reading entries about new apps which have caused a buzz around the social media universe on this site. I have to say, however, that this entry has left me with more questions than it gave answers. Here are my thre most pressing. Firstly, is the app available to people outside the US, as all the talk I have heard about this today seems to be on the other side of the pond from me. Secondly, I have heard that one has to have an account of some kind to be able to use this app. Do we do that from a website, or from the App itself? Thirdly, IBooks has improved vastly since I first started using it, both in the choice of books it has on offer and in its book navigability, so apart from the fact that more choice of EReader apps which are VO accessible is always good, why use Noonook? More books? Better Navigation? Easier to use? What? I would really be interested in hearing more about this before I rush to install it.

Hi! Having read this App Directory entry, I made use of the link to this app in the app store to find out more. Interestingly, the app was called Nook on the website, not NooNook, so I assume whoever submitted this app to AppleVis mis-typed the name, but it was obviously the same app, judging by the description. Anyway, the important point I wanted to make here was that I read on the app store website that this app supports British English and French, and some other languages too which I've forgotten, so I assume it's internationally available, although I haven't searched for it yet in the French app store myself. Hopefully someone else can answer the other questions in the previous comment.
As far as I know, this app is not yet available in Canada. Hopefully it will be at some point in the future, I'd really like to check it out.

The app is just called Nook. I'm not sure if international or. It's by Barnes&Noble. They are largest bookseller in U.S. there are definitely different books than Apple iBooks. For example; Nook has Harry Potter and The Hunger Games series'.

The Nook app is available in the UK and US app stroes, but as far as I know it is not currently available in the app stores of other countries, such as Canada, Australia, France, or Ireland. I'll excerpt a section of an article from today's Wall Street Journal, which was part of a much longer post I made on the Mac-access list that discussed this in the context of other issues, like the possibility of reading Library downloads in this app. Source: http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20121127-704625.html • Barnes & Noble Unveils Nook Apps for Android, iPhone, iPad in the U.K. (November 27, 2012) Barnes & Noble Inc. (BKS) said its free Nook applications for Android, the iPad and the iPhone can now be downloaded in the U.K., a move that continues the bookstore chain's push into the region. "Our popular collection of reading apps have been downloaded millions of times in the U.S., and now U.K. customers can enjoy the flexibility to shop our vast digital catalogue and enjoy titles from their Nook Library anywhere they go," President of Nook Media LLC Jamie Iannone said. The free Nook reading applications allow customers in the U.K. to use their mobile devices and tablets to shop the store for over 2.5 million books, magazines, newspapers and comics. And Barnes & Noble's Smart Nook technology allows customers to sync their library on the go, including last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights across all of their devices. The bookstore chain has been expanding its footprint in the U.K. over the past few months. In August, it named U.K. premium department-store operator John Lewis as the first retailer outside the U.S. to sell the Nook. That same month, it also selected three new U.K. retailers to sell the Nook: Home Retail Group PLC's (HMRTY, HOME.LN) Argos stores, independent bookstore Foyles and academic bookseller Blackwell's.
As the What's New section of the description of Nook on the app store webpage, for which there is a link above, mentions support for languages such as French and Italian, I assumed that meant that this app would be available in France. I was wrong about that: I just did a quick search for Nook using the App Store ap on my iPhone, and, although there were 18 search results, none of them was this app. I hope that one day this app will be available in other countries besides the USA and the UK: the more choice VoiceOver users have to read books on their i-devices, the better, as far as I'm concerned!

Is Nook unavailable on Iphone 4S? I tried to search it but cannot find it. Please help.
Nook is only available in a small number of countries. I don't think that India is one of these, so this is most probably why you can't find it in the App Store.
